For those who don't know, the Italian toy company GiG which was distributing Transformers toys in Italy from 1985 (when Hasbro forced them to acquire the license from them; before, GiG had basically released their own version of the Transformers toys based on their original Diaclone license from Takara, which they called "Trasformer") to 1999 (when they were bought out by their competitor Giochi Preziosi) always had a tendency to go ways no-one else would. They released the Scramble City combiners in boxes, not on cards, and the boxes were directly based on Takara's combiner boxes. And they released a giftset of the four Pretender Classic/Legends' inner robots, which was called "Hero Set", just like the Takara giftset it was based on. The names, however...

    Okay, here's the deal:
The Italian version of Autobot Car Jazz was called "Tigre".
The Italian version of Dinobot Grimlock was called "Tiran" (because he's a "Tirannosaurus").
The Italian version of Decepticon Jet Starscream was called "Astrum".
I'm not sure whether Minicar Bumblebee was released as a toy in Italy, but according to Transformer Autorobot, the character was called "Maggiolino" in the Italian dub of the cartoon.

According to Transformer Autorobot, Wheeljack was called "Saetta" in Italy.
According to Transformer Autorobot, Hot Rod was called "Folgore" in Italy.
According to Transformer Autorobot, Hot Spot was called "Drago" in Italy.
Air Raid was called "Tornado" in Italy.

And now... take a look at the Italian packaging for the "Hero Set", courtesy of Freds's Workshop.
