Guys I'm doing a project, optical illusion, and I need this to "move" more - and vibrate the eyes a bit:

    It's just not there yet

It needs to be more like this -

    http://www.orbit.zkm.de/files/videodisc01big.jpg

Any ideas on what I could do? I'm too far along to knix the design now - I know I probably shouldn't have gone through with that one, but oh well, too late.

This is for an art class and I'm really hurtin here, sorry to post a thread like this, but I can use all the help I can get. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

    Danke DANKE

Hmm... I dunno... it's not moving for me, but it is having an unexpected 3D effect. Waaaay cool picture. : )

I think it doesn't work like the example is because the linked example has those rings with the offset regular angles, which give the illusion of spinning. In yours, the designs point towards the center (and every which way), so there's no easy way for your eye to be fooled with movement.

You could always try blurring the rings a touch to give the impression of motion? I dunno.

Nothing, perhaps the design is too complex?

That kept me from working for 5 minutes. Hypnotic.. and it is moving.

Say! Would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?

BTW -- neither of the pictures move for me. But they're super trippy.

    Thanks for the comments guys

    How about this one -

I think the middle bit is working due to the red/blue contrast, but otherwise I'm unsure about it.

    2 hours left :(

Not noticing a whole lot of moving, but the 3-D is done well.

The reason stuff like that is supposed to move is because your eye can't tell which color is the background and wants to switch them back and forth. I think on your drawing, its easier to distinguish the background from the foreground, so no spinning or moving.

Honestly, the first one worked better for me because the stronger contrast "flickered" my eyes and tricked them into seeing motion.. The less contrast, the more it kinds blurs together. Though this second one does tend to trick the eye into observing depth.

That second one pops out a lot more, I think if you took some of the squiggly lines out it would help with the motion. Right now my eyes keep getting focused on those so I can't really let the motion take over. There is definitly some movement right now though.
