So I just won a Botcon Megatron on eBay, for a phenomal price as well. There was another botcon Megatron auction ending a couple days later. Thie auction I won was for Megatron by himself, while the second one was for Megatron and Waspinator as a set as they were sold at Botcon. THe price difference between the took auctions really took me by surprise. I just figured Waspinator never added that much worth to the set.

    Auction I won: http://cgi.ebay.com/TRANSFORMERS-Botcon-2006-DARKSYDE-MEGATRON_W0QQitemZ250128048304QQihZ015QQcategoryZ2485QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    Later auction w/ Waspy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=018&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=280125229872&rd=1&rd=1

I know Megatron is highly sought after (Lord knows I hunted him conistently since last year's Botcon) but I never thought Waspinator demanded a lot.

I don't keep up that vigilantly on it, but my recollection is that Waspinator tends to add roughly $100 if he's included in an auction with Megatron. So no, that one is probably a result of a bidding war if the difference got to be that big.

I remember a month ago, I saw a Megs/Waspy set for for $510! I was astounded since the highest I'd ever seen him go was $400 tops.

I actually belive that the second auction is what allowed me to get mine for "cheap". People looking at mine probably jumped ship when the new one was listed.

I followed all those auctions, the one that went for over $500 was sold by Grendel1979, I was way suprised it got that high. I wonder if anyone thinks its possible to get that set for $250 or under at Botcon this year?

I was honestly surprised when I found out I won. I had set up to receive a text message if I got outbid while I was at work and wondered if my service wasn't getting through when I received no text message. Luckily when I got home, I learned I was the last person to bid on the item.

PS. I got him today, happiness is a purple missile truck.

Difference is in the timing of the auctions. Sometimes the same figure sells for a lot, sometimes not. The value is entirely based on Megatron.

    Ebay:
One ending at midnight vs the more expensive one ending at noon (EST of course). I would think the midnight one would draw more bidders since, presumably, more people would have access to a computer with unrestricted internet acess.

The noon one would find lots of people at work unable to check ebay from a company network I would think.

I also think you're wrong in saying the value is based soley on Megatron. Completists would be more likely to bid on the set of two rather than pick up both in separate auctions for more money.

Nah, let's face it, Megatron is 98% of the reason the set sells for so much.

And most people here are bidding and surfing the net at work. :)

At $222, just consider yourself lucky. :)  That's like scoring an Overlord for less than $200.

Did I say anywhere that I wasn't happy with the price?

Megatron is the main attraction no doubt, but to deny that Waspinator affects the price of the auction is ludicrous, of course given the source of the claim, it's par for the course;)

Auctions like this are the reason I'll probably hang onto my loose set of seekers for a while after Botcon.

Not a snowball's chance in hell. If anything the prices will be higher at Botcon. No one is going to let the pair go for that little.

If I had the set, I would put Waspinator in the garbage can. Worthless imo.

don't forget the name of the item and the placed where is listed are very important factors too. I love wining auctions like this.

I'd sell my set (granted, not bagged anymore, but still mint) for $225 easy. I'm far from fond of them.

Well consider that particular waspinator went for $94 it really wasn't all that much cheaper selling them individually, still over a collective $300.

If they're still in mint condition I'd take you up on that.
