    I think some people are forgetting what the word "invade" means.

    Literally almost every single continuity the Transformers are invading Earth. No, scratch that, every single continuity.

    I just had a brain fart. Technically, in G1, The Transformers were here before we were. Would that allow them dibs on the planet?

    Ha! Good point. :) 

    But I think "alien invasion" still applies, in the sense that the basic genre also allows for ancient aliens, and primeval beings buried in the earth's core and stuff like that. It's a flexible genre.

    I think that Transformers has definitely branched out and told other big stories, but the basic "arrival on earth" and "secret war" scenario (especially seen in Bayformers) is a total alien invasion storyline.
