So i found this little guy at a local shop.

The second I saw him I thought he was Whirl.
I still think he's Whirl. Looks just like him! But the old Whirl figure was alot big and it was based off some mech-anime...or something right?

So is this a toy from that anime? Or does anyone know what/where this is from?

I'm fairly certain that's a go-bot of some variety, but could be wrong.

It's definitely based on that same Dorvack design. Not familiar with the merchandising for that line, though, so no telling if it's something official, or a knock-off of somesort.

I had one like that, wasn't it a convertors from the 80's? I think my dad bought me one at a Spencer's at the mall.

It's called KO Converters Chopper. A mini KO of the Gazette which G1 Whirl is based off of.

I still have mine but I am missing most of the accessories. I think he had two claws, a mini gun and a missle launcher. Going off my terrible 35 year old memory.

Those are the accessories I remember too. I had this guy as a kid, and used him as my Whirl. Of course he was WAY too tiny.

You could get this figure as part of the Convertors line (I forget what their name for him was) or you could buy him as a straight up import (possibly KO) version from a boxed series of anime mecha in that same size (this was the one I had). Besides the Whirl/Gazette, I had an Orguss and a Max Valkyrie about that height. They were simplified, but not too bad. They still transformed and stuff.

I think the Convertors version and the import version were identical, so I'm not sure which one you have there. Looks just like my old one though... thanks for the memories! :D

Can you also extend his legs? I seem to remember they stretched out as well.

    Hmm lets look....
    ...
yes...they can extend but his legs are slagin' tight.

It took the most effort I've ever put on any toy before.

Oh yeah, the convertors! Aren't they really rare now? I wouldn't mind owning the pinball machine one.

Haha! Yeah, that sounds about right. I remember that now too. :)

They're probably rare because the construction was not as durable as the Transformers of the time. I have very few Convertors that survived childhood... just three "Avarians" (Rex, Robat, Feathers), and one Insector. I remember liking them a LOT when I was a kid. I had both G1 Barrage, and the Insectors version (Creeper I think), and I preferred Creeper . "Rex" was probably one of my favourite figures at the time, period.

Ah, hA! That's the one I was asking about months ago! I remembered having a similar or that exact toy, except I remembered mine was black. And if memory serves me right, I do remember something about Convertors as the name of the series. But, after 28 some odd years, who knows how accurate memories can be.

Right! I remember there being a black version too!

I don't know if that was a variant in the Convertors line or what...

Good question. He's in good shape from the looks of it, but it probably wouldn't be worth much more than a collector would pay for it, y'know? You probably wouldn't find more prospective buyers anywhere else than here on this site. But I'm just guessing.
