The only resemblances I see is due to the fact that they're both based on scorpions ;)

They're both metal scorpions covered in spikes with spinning blades for claws. That's not a resemblance, that's a straight-up ripoff.

I have a knife that my grandfather gave me that looks a bit like that, poked me once in the leg when we were putting it in the car, Through a plastic conatiner.

Very possible. Then again, a lot of TransFormers designs and concepts have been heavily based on other sources. It wouldn't be anything new if this is the case.

If the designers actually went out of their way to watch the Magiranger movie then I guess that's a little awesome. :lol  Magiranger was an awesome series.

Copyright infringement my ass. This is reaching. Like, Mr. Fantastic couldn't even get ahold of this argument.

Spiky monsters are prevalent everywhere. Final Fantasy has had tons of these things throughout the years, even with spinning claws. I guess Power Rangers ripped them off then? There was also a big metal scorpion in the first MMPR Movie, I guess they ripped themselves off too.

This looks more like a fantasy beast while Scorponok has mechanisms that look like something built it. The inspiration probably came from trying to figure out how to make a robot scorpion fit into the movie look.

I think it's reaching. Beyond the fact they're both scorpions and having spinning claw blades, they dont look a thing alike.
