nope, nothing to do with the toys trademark.

However, in the scene where he plays with the toys, there seems to be some kind of transformer or zord, however, I don't recognize it. Can anyone identify it?

    Picture from photobucket coming shortly.....

I thought it was lost to Mattel or Hot-Wheels. Or are they one in the same? I forget. I know there's a lot of names that they can't "trademark"/"copyright" now because it's a description.

Rodimus is a way better of a name than Hot Rod,But that's my opinion.

Hasbro lost the name to Mattel. I believe the Mattel trademark is something like "Hott Rodd", which could be considered "confusingly similar" if Hasbro were to reuse the name "Hot Rod".

And the "generic"/"descriptive" names, Hasbro COULD theoretically traemark... they just couldn't defend them in court if someone else was using them too.

i love classics "rodimus" and,to this day still call him "hot rod",and will continue to do so.
i thought the name change perhaps had to do with the magazine of the same name.

at least they haven't redubbed the old movie with the new name...
