Found this on /toy/ (lol 4chan). Is this real? Personally I doubt it, but if it is then scalpers just got a lot more scary. /toy/ - Toys
Eh, /toy/ is one of the few good boards. It's just people enjoying toys, with the occassional drama about one or two members. Other then that, though? Pretty enjoyable! Just ask Vangelus, he's the hero of /toy/ after all.
its BS, unless the toys are shipped in cases of that one figure, theres no way of telling which figure is left from the case
What cracks me up is all the Marvel figures are going to be jamming the shelves soon. Those scalpers are going to end up with so much unsold merchandise.
/toy/, /m/, and /co/ are all great boards. Hell, I got a completely free Material Force Microlady from someone on /toy/.
4chan is like crack, y'see. It's really, really not good for you. But... it makes you giddy and hyper and insane.
I seriously doubt such technology exists, since it would require all stores to have their stocks accessible online and updated in realtime. There's some pretty frightening implications in there if you are in business against these guys - you can find out, in real time, what is selling out in their store and update your own stock accordingly. Fear not the scalpers, fear the wider impact.
This is potentially legit, but I suspect a bit inaccurate. Barcode scanners on phones have been around for a couple years in the US, and longer in Asia. The obvious difficult part is getting access to a store's database. The only ways I can think this is achievable are either using the store's online interface to check stock (if they have one), or directly using a store-provided programmer interface (again, if they have one). Messing around with Target's online stock finder proves inaccurate, compared with what I saw there last night. Either way, this ShopSavvy demo (Big in Japan - Developers of ShopSavvy or Shop Savvy ShopSavvy ) shows it can do nearly what the OP quoted. It's probably accurate to some degree, but I'd like to see it myself.
