TRANSFORMERS G1 FRENZY & LASERBEAK AFA 80 LAZERBEAK - eBay (item 130340684241 end time Nov-05-09 17:00:04 PST) Note the placement of "THE" in the "The Transformers". The (R) also looks like it's too far to the right. I asked the seller for higher resolution pictures. Which makes me very suspect. Here is one KO guide: Counterfeit Frenzy / Laserbeak ID Guide | HIGHENDTFS.COM It's hard to confirm in the pics if the Frenzy screws are flat, but they look that way.
They look flat to me, but yeah it is hard to tell from the small blurry pic. If the rivets are flat it is almost certainly a KO. I had a G1 Frenzy, the rivets were not flat on mine anyway.
Here is a better view. There are at least a couple of KO tests it seems to definitely fail. The other tests coud go either way, but nothing that's conclusvie it is authentic. BTW - AFA was known to grade conterfeits before knew how to tell the difference. The story is they tried to buy them all back and take them off the market; though not really sure if that part is true.
Yeah, it's the counterfeit. Da_Last_2_Walk spotted it too. Here's AFA's official line about this from an old email I was sent in January 2008: I sent an email to the seller. Let's see what he does...
Sellers responded, regarding AFA... "Well if they want to give me $400 for it, then I will be more than happy to give it to them." Sounds like he doesn't give a shit.
I contacted the seller also. He basically said "AFA are the experts, I will go by what they say". Seems like he knows it's not legitmate or is highly suspect of the item also. But unfortunately he wants to make it somebody else's "problem" now rather than his own.
I'll email the seller and let him know that its a KO, I also reported him! If he stated that it was a KO then thats cool but he didn't so I reported him.
LOL!!!!! First the seller said "I bought this a week ago from a very reputable Transformers dealer" NOW he is saying "I got this graded 4 years ago". This guys is lying and should not be selling on ebay at all.
If this scam goes through for the seller, and the buyer later discovers it's a KO (I've noticed TFWers have no problem sparing the time to contact buyers, sellers, etc) the seller could find himself super screwed - A Paypal dispute claiming the item is a fake will get the buyer his money back and the item disposed of by Paypal. I guess the seller likes be double-fucked like that.
I already reported him hope ebay will take it off but if ebay don't I'm going to contact the winner and tell him that its a fake. So that way the seller will get screwed
