it was at least 3 inches long, on my basement wall. looking at the picture, it's kind of pretty, with all the stripes and such, if you can get over all of the legs. any ideas?

Its most likely the centipede Scutigera coleoptrata and they are generally harmless as their venom is unable to pierce human skin. Interestingly they dont bite to administer venom but rather sting as they have no poison in their mandibles

    Yeah, it's a centipede.

    And centipedes eat spiders.

Ya, it's a house centipede, I had them in an apartment they used to crawl on the wall and die laying out with their butts on the wall.

Looked like those metal gargoyles on the skyscrapers.

It's a house centipede. We get tons of them here. Freaky as hell but fairly beneficial as it preys upon other pests.

    I take it back.

It's an unreleased Masterpiece Beast Wars figure.

Bot mode is still unknown but it's probably fuglier than the alt mode.

Those legs freak me out. Usually I'm not miffed by centipedes at all but this one rustles my jimmies.

Kill it with all the fire we have.

KILL IT BEFORE IT LAYS EGGS.

Centipedes, man. No thanks, unless we're talking human centipedes... Mmm...

If any of you act on this, I will call you a dick.

House centipedes are creepy. This is coming from a guy who raised madagascar hissing cockroaches, meal worms, reptiles and had taranculas as pets. lol Those things just creep me out especialy if u wake up and ones crawling on your arm or face..... Also hold a lighter to them and all their legs burn up pretty quickly but leave a bad smell lol
