I think the G1 figure looks pretty much identical to his show representation.

From G1's toyline, no. However, the Generations Perceptor repaint is designed to look like the generic Reflector bots.

Then you've really never seen the two side-by-side.

And no, there isn't. There's really not a G1 cartoon accurate anything.

Neither of which are cartoon accurate.

They come close, But Prime has wheels on his legs, extra detail, Starscream has hip kibble, extra detail.

Cartoon accurate figures look just like the cartoon. Not "a lot like" or "close to."

Well you have to make some compromises, otherwise you end up with an action figure that can't transform. Likewise, the movie toys look a lot like their movie counterparts for the most part, but aren't exactly the same because it would either be impossible, would make for a crappy toy, or both. Asking for exact replicas of the animation cells is dumb, especially when the animation cells were based on the toys but were intentionally modified so they could, you know, be animated.

Well, I meant a close to the cartoon generic robot. Not exactly the same. Is there a link to the Perceptor repaint? Googled and couldn't find one

No pictures yet, at least none publicly released. There might have been a "no pics" slide at BotCon, but I assume that that particular reveal was just verbal.

Otherwise, if you're willing to shell out the cash, look forward to news on Perfect Effect's "Scouting Party X" set, which is to be a modern update of Reflector, with mostly identical 'bots (as opposed to the actual G1 toy's completely individualistic trio). No saying what the colours on that one will be, though, although they're bound to do a 'toon coloured set eventually, if not right away.

There wasn't even a "no pics" slide of Reflector, unfortunately. But they didn't have Wheeljack, Wreck-Gar or Rumble/Frenzy either, so there's that.

With all the animation errors in G1, is anything accurate? I mean, in one episode we see Perceptor with a Decepticon symbol, and in another episode we see Sideswipe standing next to Megatron for no apparent reason.
So to expect something "accurate" for a show that is nothing near accurate...................

However said that, I have noticed that one thing that remained constant was Optimus Prime, and I think MP04 is the best representation of him bar-none. Period...................

Perfect Effect is one of the numerous "3rd Party" toy companies that have cropped up over the last couple of years, joining TFClub and FansProject and iGear and others.

For more information on their "Reflector" release, check out the link Fosterlager provided.
