Some TFs would look much better with a matte finish, such as 2 pack megatron and Cassics Starscrem, I see plenty of gloss clear-coats but now any matte.

I use (almost exclusively) Testors Dullcote spray to seal my paint jobs. It takes a few coats to get a nice durable layer, but I like it for the fact that it doesn't mes with details the way some of the thicker coats do. I much prefer a matte finish on all of my kits. I feel when they are too shiny, it betrays the fact that they are toys, and robs them of the realism that I personally like on my models.
    Hope this helps DC!

I agree with Sculpt-Bot. I've always used Testors Dullcote on my stuff.

If you mix Dullcote with Glosscote, does it make a semi-gloss finish?

I think it would be easier just to by semi-gloss clearcote.

I have a bottle of each that I have never used. Why should I purchase something else if I can use what I have.
It would save me mixing all my flat and gloss paints.

You can mix them together to get a desired semi-gloss, I would try different ratios depending on what you are going for. I tend to keep all three around in spray form just to keep from having to mix them.

There are some matte and semigloss acrylic overcoats available as well.
