I dont know if its just me guys but does the anyone here think that the Master Piece Megatron is being rushed?

To me, it looks like it nothing more than a slightly more articulated G1 Megtatron. For a few reasons and I know this has probally been discussed here before, his waist and crotch area look very thin. His legs and feet really do not look all that diffrent from the his G1 counter part. In fact for a Master Piece, I was hoping to something a lot more updated than what I am seeing now. Even though its early and changed could still be made, I feel that this project was too rushed.

    Question

How do you come to the conclusion that this toy is being rushed when:

1 - you are basing this all on pictures of the prototype

    and most importantly

2 - you don't even own the toy

perhaps it's not so much it's rushed, but too costly to do what they really wanted to do, there is only so much room in that gun body, and even now they have to make the gun a bit oversized to accomodate the robot inside, maybe they simply run out of room to play with.

It looks rushed because it's released not so long after MP-03 but it was probably being developped roughly at the same time or slightly after MP-03 was in the proto stage.

Man, I could rant so much about this thread, but the guy is new, not unlike myself, I don't want to be mean and give off a bad impresion and it's really pointless what I say anyway. But there is no happiness in this fandom. We get a great update to G1 Megatron within the limits of a real gun, the first true Megatron with all the bells and whistles that is G1 to the core (Classics comes close). And still complaints.

    ...

    Oh what the hell:

    GuN n0t t@Nk!!!

    NO! Only A Walther P38.

Good it's a gun, shoot! its too big! Meh, but it's a gun! Viva G1 baby!

Oh, but those legs, tisk so thin.

And that scope simply won't do!

Eh, it must be rushed... damn greedy TakTomy!!!

    ...:redface2:

See what I mean? And this is before we even have a closed-to-finished product to see. (DISCLAIMER: not directed at anyone in particular but my feelings on this subject as a whole)

Do you want a gun that's way bulkier and unwieldy than prototype? Because that's the only way to squeeze in a bigger arms and legs. To me as long the toy is stable in the bot mode and won't fall over easily that's all it matters. I love the bot and alt mode and I don't think you can redo G1 Megatron any better. The trigger crotch is gone, the barrel of the gun is on its back instead of on the side, and you have show accurate head that everybody wants, and the accessories are just what the doctor ordered. So I don't know where your complaints come from. Maybe you want MP Megatron to be a tank not a gun. Just don't buy it if you don't like it.

I challenge anybody to come up with a better design that becomes a realistic Walther P-38 and still looks like Megs.

Yeah, I agree with ya. Some of are given the impression that it was rushed because of the "timing" of the pictures - they were released quite fast after MP Starscream was released.

Actually, I have (see my cg megatron) The idea was one leg is slightly larger than the other so it can slide inside it making the grip narrower.

Anyway, back on topic, I think MP Megs looks great, nice mix of the original toy and the cartoon, just like MP Convoy/20th Prime.

Yes you can pose G1 Megatron that way as I do with the barrel on the back.

I don't know about rushed, but if it is maybe they should have rushed MP-03 some more!

Yeah, it can go on the back, but it doen't line up flush along the back. Sticks back at an angle.

Anyway... we have no idea at all how long MP Megatron has been in the works. It could have been a work in progress since Ultra Magnus was released. Who knows how many failed designs, redesigns, and prototypes there have been before the pictures surfaced. There is no basis to claim he's been rushed.

And I don't think the amount of time for this makes much difference. Like others have said, there's only so much you can do with a gun and it doesn't matter if this was released after Starscream or a year from now. Chances are it would've looked the same way anyway.

Rushed? MP-05 Megatron looks quite intricate and well-planned to me. You couldn't ask for much more without sacrificing the alt mode, which I am glad they did not do. It's true that MP-01 Optimus Prime had more fine touches, like the Matrix chamber, coummnicators, and leg vents, but they threw his alt mode out the window to get there. I think a lot of $$$ will be going into Megatron's die cast and chrome.

Now... if only MP Megs were 1:1 scaled. In either mode. That's about the only way to really improve him in my eyes.
