Is the Japanese version of Energon better then it's USA counterpart?

I've heard many times that the English dub for Energon is terrible so I was thinking is the Japanese version just as bad as it's USA version or is it different?

    It's just a question.

It'd have to be, wouldn't it?

But seriously, yeah, it is. Some animation errors corrected, arguably better voice acting, a few minor edits, didn't have the same issues in airing schedule, etc. etc.

So what about story and characters? Are they done better too or is it just as bad?

Pretty much the same, slightly more coherent, I'd say. I mean, at their core they're the same show, but Superlink had a bit more polish.

It'd have to be worse. They made the show first. Cartoon Network tried to improve it and it was still bad.

RID through Cybertron were a horrible mastery of shitty dubbs and terrible plots. Even with all that, The English dub of Headmasters is still the worst.

I dunno, RiD is a great sort of show pitched at roughly the same level as Rescue Bots, has a wide variety of alt modes (I would have sold my soul for a West release of Team Bullet Train) for all concerned and had some pretty interesting characters for the sort of show it was.

Also it had Scourge, a badass Ultra Magnus, Sky-Byte and Fortress Maximus, so shut up :p

The Headmasters dub, despite all its flaws, still at least gets the general meaning of the dialogue across. You have to chuckle every other minute, but at least you know what's going on. The Voicebox dub of Energon, on the other hand, often features completely nonsensical dialogue where you don't have the slightest clue what the hell is going on.

Simply put: The Omni Productions dub of Headmasters is charmingly inept. The Voicebox dub of Energon is "banging head against wall" levels of incompetent.

    Yes.

But I thought the Bullet Trains DID see release in the West?

I'll still never forgive Enegon/Superlink for destroying all of the great characterization of Demolishor in the first half of the series... Fortunately, the Hasbro Cybertron toy bio seemed to bring him back and in hiding from Megatron.

Yes, it is better. The conversations make sense (even if they're boring/bland) and the voice acting is superior imo (Energon feels very phoned-in).

Is it good though? Not really. It still has the same issues of droped plot points, repetition, character derailment, mindwiping, etc but like that wiki quote, at least it makes more sense than the dub.

So if you want to watch the series for completeness sake, I'd suggest Super Link over Energon any day.
