Rewatching Out of his Head I notice that Starscream's jet mode got alot of weird spikes and curved detailings that we don't see in any of the robot vehicle modes other than.... Megatron himself.

What do you guys think? Weird weird weird earth mode or earth-ish cybertronian alt mode?

I assumed Cybertronian, same as Soundwave. The only definitive Earth jet I recall seeing is Skyquake.

I have always assumed Earthmode. Maybe he is a bit spiky, but I always thought he looked like an Earth jet, even with those. Soundwave also has an Earth mode according to me, although I think it's more probable for him to be a supposed Cybertronian mode, with the glowy lines on his altmode.

Probably not the best reference, but I just saw the toy pics again, and it looks like a normal Earth jet to me.

Soundwave has an Earth mode. It's based on the Predator drone plane.

Really? Hm...*rewatching DArkness Rising-Part 2*..just for the 2 small "spikes" at the sides of the cockpit, the design is pretty much an Earth jet. :S

I don't think I'd call it cybertronian. Compared to Megatron's vehicle mode, Starscream's is very earthy. It just makes me think he's customized it a bit to make it look more menacing.

Aren't they not allowed to transform on Earth until they've scanned a proper Alt. mode, so I presume it's an Earth vehicle, albeit an odd looking one.

Just a stylized earth jet. It's similar to how Skyquake's jet mode is, if you look at screen caps both Skyquake and Screamer have areas with small converging pointy bits and overlapping panels. I chalk it up to design decisions. Plus, he has a cockpit and earthly looking weapons, whereas Megs has lasers and his head just sort of peeks out of his vehicle mode.

It's an Earth mode. Compare his alt-mode to the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon that TFWiki notes bears a resemblance:

Nah, that was just Skyquake. Likely explanation for that is going into stasis for a couple millennia forced him to sacrifice his alt-mode for whatever reason.

As FNG, they are earth modes. Soundwave is a predator drone.

That may be, but it's too far off the basis plane for me to recognize.

Not that I much care, Prime Soundwave bores the shit out of me.

I have the first two of the TFPrime GN's and in those they state that Soundwave and Starscream have earth jet/plane modes..Megatron still has his Cybertronian jet mode.

    Starscream..In A Rising Darkness..his description is he's a military fighter jet mode.
Soundwave..In A Rising Darkness..his description is he's a stealth drone and spy master.
Megatron..In A Rising Darkness..his description is he's an alien fighter jet.

Starscream's alt mode is very close to the F-16. Probably not an exact copy since they probably didn't want to go through the licensing BS with General Dynamics.
