I was thinking of buying it at Amazon but for $150 is high. Is it THAT good a show to warrant a price like that?

In that case I've actually seen it...kinda

by kinda I mean I saw it at an anime showing and most of the time we didnt really follow the plot we were more mst3king it to death and just having a blast. From what I remeber of the show it was eh but then again I saw it with a bunch of people in almost marathon like sessions so we got bored easily.

So with that in mind, if you plan on watching it with a group of friends this thing provides no ends of fun catching stuff that doesnt seem right. As for actual viewing though I can't exactly say looked like it was a decent show but couldn't exactly tell ya.

I hope that all helps in someway or form

Well its ok. The english dubbing is so so, but good for the day. That price seems a bit high for me though.

If you want to see the show that it is based on, Central Anime has fan subbed the first season and is over half way through the second season. In it you can see Analyzer harrass Yuki like crazy.

This is the anime I first cut my teeth on as a kid. The TV edit is faithful for an early '80s dub, but that's not saying much. Even so, the story is mostly intact even if most names and a lot of footage isn't. I wouldn't pay $150 for it though, even if it were uncut.

Starsabrej is right. Check out the Yamato fansubs from Central Anime. If you feel bad about not supporting the series monetarily, you can buy uncut dual-language DVDs of the Yamato movies from the same company that makes the Star Blazers DVDs. I have no idea why they refuse to release an uncut version or why they think they can charge so much.

Starblazers is a classic. It's old, but the storyplot is pretty cool. The second season is when things really pick up, though. I assume that's the price for the entire series. If it is, then I think it's worth it.

Starblazers is one of my fav animes ever.

I actually waited to pick up the first season boxset until discountdvd.com had one of their 20% off sales.

it's a great series, but it is a long one, and much better done then some of the later animes, like voltron and such, at least animation wise.

Throughout the entire series, there was only one thing that bothered me, and that was the ship explosions in the beginning of the first season. They sounded like firecrackers going off. Very annoying. Luckily that was fixed before the season was over.

It's all worth it though, when it gets to the final battle. Starblazers had some of the greatest climactic battles ever.

My opinion - don't take anyone else's opinion as your basis for exploring your interests. :D

It's a cool series to me though.
