I just recently bought the TRU Soundwave reissue off Ebay for $53. I haven't received it yet, but i'm wondering... is G1 Soundwave so great that I should remove him fro his box? Usually I'm all for freeing TFs, but since I spent months going to TRU every weekend and not finding him, he is very rare in my mind. Should I leave him in his big, fancy box, and hope he becomes as rare and (someday)expensive as I think he will, or should I rip him out of the box and risk disapointment and lowered value?(I grew up with BW and on...G1 toys, while having a magical quality to them, just don't satisfy me as much as newer TFs...) OR, should I see if I can find a loose Soundwave to play with while my TRU "Grail" stays MISB? Also, is Music Label Soundwave worth the $60+ he's going for? I've heard bad things about him, but I don't remember what they were.... Also I have Cybertron and Animated Soundwave, and they are kind of disapointing to me, would G1 Soundwave be any different?
I'm not as hardcore as some people, but my opinion is: If you can't take a toy out of its box, fiddle a bit with it and then pose it awesomely on your shelf, then what good is it?..
g1 soundwave is so great, that it is even worthy enough to fit in with TODAY's classic transformers, little alone with g1 toys lol. especially with how much articulation it has for a g1 toy. so yes, g1 soundwave is worth it. i do not have the new tru one because i have the original, but i love it
Yeah, open him up. Its only a TRU reissue. Now if he was a original G1 MISB than I say DON'T open it. Thats just my opinion, its your money you spent at the end of the day its up to you.
I would honestly check what the price is on the recent Encore release these days if not the TFC-10 reissue before it. The reasons are that the TRU version is rare enough to fetch a decent price if you decide to resell later, but it's also SOUNDBLASTER in blue instead of a real Soundwave like the other two.
Agree with what has already been said. As for MP3 soundwave, he plays music...though if you already own any iteration of an ipod you will not be substituting that for soundwave as your primary music player. He is extremely articulated, and looks even better alongside the classics line than the TRU Encore and is more in scale. He can't put Ravage and Laserbeak in his chest Rumble and Frenzy as Headphone add ons are crap and I wish I hadn't bought them. They're more of a novelty IMO than anything I would like to display. So basically you're spending ridiculous money on a classics deluxe scale soundwave figure if you don't use him to listen to music. which is exactly what I did
I love the TRU reissue. I'd wanted at least a version of the Soundblaster mould for ages (storing multiple cassettes? That has to be good), and the fact that it included Ravage (who got stolen when I was 10) just clinched it. Yeah, Soundwave pretty much stands up today as a playable toy. Barring the knees (which bend, but the wrong way), he's pretty well as articulated as most modern figures, and the guy was designed nearly thirty years ago! For the record, I have the TRU and the original. Both have been freed and receive much love.
G1 Soundwave is a superb toy. Absolutely iconic looks, good articulation (for the time), and excellent gimmicks (the batteries becoming his weaponry, and of course the cassettes). Open him, and enjoy. As for Music Label Soundwave, well. He's a superbly done figure; 2 extra sets of hands (one for each side holding the rifle, and one for each side pressing the button for the tape eject. HOW cool is THAT?!?!?), amazing articulation (hip, knee, shoulder, mid-arm, elbow, wrist and balljointed neck), excellently detailed, and beautifully executed in general. Add to that the fact that he's also perfectly in scale with the Classics line (and therefore displays perfectly with them) and throw in the bonus of an MP3 player, and you have the perfect Classics Soundwave. IMO he's very highly reccomended; I don't regret buying him at all.
i have one of the soundwave reissues(the one that holds two tapes)and i took him out of the box, though i still use the box to display him in.
exactly..im not a MISBer either..just keep the box, so u could MIB it its a great figure, cant believe its so expensive in the US already though.. i got it here in singapore, at toys r us, for around USD35..great toy, totally worth it
if u want to resell then keep it, if u want to keep it, then open it. i have the encore version and am most pleased with it, id say he's one of the best figs
yeah last year during the movie toy run toysrus in my area had some and put them out i got 2 of them. best 64.00 dollars i had spent in a minute
oh my god open his ass up! keep the box because it is pretty sweet. i think its cool the fact it has the soundblaster mold but soundwave, plus i like how the box sticks out more than all the other reissues.
