Grimlock is more powerful but it Sludge stronger? He is always larger and much bulkier in all the continuities and has always earth splitting force.

Tech Specs say that Grimlock has a strength edge over Sludge, but just barely (10 to Sludge's 9). Also, all that strength is meaningless without the smarts to put it to good use (Grimlock is four points smarter than Sludge's 3).

I don't think so, but when it comes to Strength, Sludge could take him on.

To quote Sludge "Me, Sludge, follow strongest leader always." That tells me that even if Sludge was stronger, or equal in strength to Grimlock, he wouldn't challenge him.

I was just looking at Sludge from his different comic continuity portrayals and the description of his forms in FOC. He is the tallest of the Dinobots and easily the most massive and when you look at the comics, cartoon, movies and games there usually is a comparison to size and strength but not always the overall power of a character. A good example is how easily Optimus defeated Shockwave's driller in the DotM.

Sludge has so much more mass to him than the other Dinobots and has demonstrated the ability to deliver earth splitting force, I always thought him the strongest of the Dinobots, though clearly lacking Grimlock's agility, cunning, and fighting prowess.

Earth as in terra firma, not the planet.

What? Sludge was only ever slightly bigger than the others, their dino modes are not to scale with each or real dinos, where on earth does this idea keep coming from? Cartoon, dinobots massive sludge just the biggest by not by a great deal, comic arverage sized tf with sludge as just the biggest but again not by much, its not like he has ever towered over the others in any fiction.

I really don't know what people are reading to get this idea.

In IDWs Maximum Dinobots comic he is much bigger then the rest, that is the only instance where this is the case though (as far as I know/remember).

I'm going to have to go re read that, I thought that again he was bigger but not greatly so, but I did spend a lot of time only looking at how stupidly small swoop was so I may have missed that.

IDW Maximum Dynobots was the latest where Sludge appeared quite a bit larger than Grimlock. They even had a size comparison sketch in it.

The FOC designers indicate Sludge designs are massive there too, larger than the others.
