Is it safe to assume that Sam is Spike's real name? Since he is dating Carly especially, but also the reason why I started thinking he was actually Spike is because of the way he spikes the Matrix into Primes chest. Just a thought, Im not trying to desperately tie in the lines, but I think its interesting
No, Spike was an oil worker to start with, and older. However in some regards they do have some similar traits, sometimes they can be crazy brave to their personal detriment, or completely nuts and unsafe to everyone around them. Although granted less so with Sam as he is just a movie character who does not have years of media to fill and get in trouble all the time.
yea, thats what I thought. Like I said, I wasnt trying to "mesh" the two characters into one, I guess I was referring to the way he plunges (spikes) the matrix into Prime to revive him in ROTF. Like a metaphorical "nod". I was wondering if anyone else picked up on that, and if it was possibly meant that way or just a "happy coincidence" as Ive heard someone use that term
No. They're two different people. The name Carly in the movie was just a G1 reference, or a big coincidence. And can I call Animated Soundwave Spike, because he spike the Autobots' oil nog? You're kidding, right? Spike from G1...?
They fill the same role. Human friend to Bumblebee. I just see Sam as movieverse Spike and Buster distilled. He has the relationship with Bumblebee and Carly G1 Spike had, looks kinda like him, and is like Buster how he's pretty much a normal teen who's thrust into the Autobots' war, IE when the AllSpark was put into his mind.
