I think it's all speculation at this point. WFC is supposed to be a generic back story for most g1 continuities.

 

Exodus is WFC, just told differently towards the middle and expanded on at the end. But yeah as someone said before Exodus/WFC is the new catch all origin story for any G1 inspired material. From there writers will do what is necessary to fit those events into their new universe.

Prime was also said to be G1 inspired but is also influenced in style by the movie. So don't think of Exodus/WFC as a direct prequel, it's a back story for everything G1 including the IDW comics.

There was also a comment made during the Hasbro panel that WFC was it's own continuity but "take the comment as you will"
