It seems rather unlikely that there would be two purple cyclopean Decepticons in the same series, particularly with each Animated character having such a distinctive appearance from each other.

Has any concept art of Shockwave been released? If not, does a drastic redesign seem likely?

While I think that his personality is like G1 Cartoon Shockwave, I think visually he has few similarities. I'm thinking that the Shockwave that we'll get in Animated (evidence points to him appearing in Season 2) will be more like that of the Comic book Shockwave. I also think he'll look a lot like his G1 self.

The thought had crossed my mind. Maybe they couldn't license the name Shockwave, or... they wanted someone like him, but more brutish and more simple minded.

Maybe if shockwave had half of his log circuits ripped out.
Lugnut doesn't appear to be very intelligent.

Plus I think he looks more blue than purple, in the first scene with the decepticons all of them were purple.

I think Lugnut appears to be what would happen if Shockwave was dropped onto his head repeatedly for the 4 million years Megatron and co were off snoozing on Earth. Oh, and they also put Shockwave on steroids.

The only thing that remains to be seen is if Lugnut will even bother with a gun, if he is supposed to be a Shockwave homage, chances are his gun would be set to 'Stormtrooper'.

I expect Lugnut to just break things. Like the anti-Ratchet. Ratchet fixes, Lugnut breaks.

I also foresee a rivalry between Lugnut and Bulkhead, over who can break the most stuff.

Maybe he'll be destroyed? Death of main or significant characters is always good for plot development. (especially for the Decepticons)

You guys considered the possibility that Shockwave will be a minor character?

Probably, but since Hasbro is so uptight about releasing two toys around the same time that share a similar appearence (i.e. Animated Blitzwing and the non-existant Classics Blitzwing), it's still a valid discussion.

Unless Shock's looks nothing like his G1 self except for a few design notes. (ala, Prowl)

Lugnut is more like Tidal Wave from Armada...

    Undying loyalty and extreme power.

Just like how none of the Autobots are direct clones of G1 neither are the decpeticons.

The only thing that really reminds me of Shockwave is the purple color.
I think he's more like the Animated version of Blackout with the whole MEGATRON'S DAWG YO' thing and his body-shape.

Incidently, TW's Japan counterpart WAS Shockwave.

IMDB says that Corey Burton plays Shockwave. So I guess that means Shockwave will be a different character than Lugnut.

Also ironic that David Kaye plays Lugnut. In his career, Kaye has been Megatron, Megatron's enemy, and now a suckup to Megatron. Just thought it was interesting.

Personally I find Lugnut...at least Design wise reminds me of a flying Tankorr...more so that Shockwave.

Additionaly interesting that he also plays Prime (Megatron's nemesis of sorts) and Grimlock - okay, maybe Grimmy isn't that ironic.

I think Shockwave is a separate character to Lugnut. It'd be cool if he shows up in season 2 as the main Decepticon bastard on Cybertron - just like how G1 Megs left Shocky to take care of Cybertron. Maybe he could interfere with the Cybertron elite guard?

From what we know, he is. We've seen character listings, and both have been on the same list. He's either a really small (not physically) character in the first season, or will show up in the 2nd season (that's what I think is most likely). What's cool is that he's apparently voiced by the same person who voiced him back in G1.

Yeah, "Megatron's Enemy" was supposed to refer to Optimus Prime.

But it is neat that he plays Grimlock, another T-Rex. I wonder if he saw that Grimlock is a T-Rex and said, "Hey, I can play that!" And if Optimus and Grimlock have any arguments, should be neat. I always love it when an actor has a conversation with himself, like the many Rattrap vs Dinobot arguments, or the Megatron and Soundwave conversations.

I definitely got a very Shockwave vibe from Lugnut...sorta similar in appearance and demeanor.

But yeah, SW is supposed to be in the series at some point so..not sure how that all will work out.
