Okay, I am going to be taking advantage of the sales at Target on the 28th. I plan on either buying a bunch of small figures (Scouts, Deluxes, Voyagers, Target Titaniums) or just buying leader Prime. I've heard from a lot of people that leader Prime is really great but I'm starting to think that he might just be average.

So, should I buy a bunch of Smaller figures or get leader Prime ?

Buy Prime. You can get the smaller figures individually later.

Get a few smaller TF's as Leader Prime looks very bland without a custom paintjob and has very questionable engineering.

Were it as good as some people are saying there would have been a lot less stories from people too scared to even transform it for fear of breaking it.

What exactly is giving you the impression that he's average, if i might ask?

Given the considerable number of testimonials, reviews, and photographic evidence that he ISN'T at all average, I'm just curious what would give you such a strong impression of 'meh' to make you disregard all of that?

If only there was some way of painting toys yourself, or returning them if they break.

    Oh wait. There is.

well ROTF leader Prime is just as good a TOY as the first Movie Leader OPs, but he also looks like the movie version more, if you liked/have the first MLO then definately get the second, you wont be disappointed

At a UK price of £45 I shouldn't have to paint them myself and I neither have the time or patience to learn.

Well whether he;s great or average, you'll have to make up your own mind about. (You know, THEY'RE robots, but we're not)... but IMHO he is spectacular! His truck mode is truly beautiful and his bot mode is exceptionally well done and so freaking movie accurate. He's a lot of fun and not THAT bad to transform, once you get the hang of it.

TfAnimatedFan appears to be located in Texas. Not the UK.
Maybe has more time and patience than you too.

No it isn't but from my experience of Asian toys they at least look like the company making them gave a shit about how good the final product looked.

I buy most of the Henkei line as opposed to their Hasbro counterparts soley because of the better paint apps and certainly don't mind paying the extra but I object paying out for something which looks like half the parts came straight from the mold without any attempt to show off all the details that are sculpted into them.

Leader Prime is awesomeness concentrated in plastic form. I really don't see how people can not like this figure, even if they think his plastic or paint job looks a bit cheap..cos he is awesome.

Did I mention he is awesome?

i collected all the henkeis and the MPs and some Soul of Chogokins, so i understand what you're saying.

economics plays a bit of a role here, i suppose.

bandai and yamato targets collectors. hasbro has a bigger market to cater to.

hasbro, i think, gives a shit. i really do. but just enough shit so that little kiddies can buy and experience TFs too. and that's a great thing!

and at that price point (comparing to bandai and yamato products) damn, ROTF leader prime is a steal!
