As you can see in the thread I started earlier today, I LOVE TF Animated. WTS I won't ever stop watching it.......I truly enjoy it. I also don't want anyone to get the wrong message from this thread. As I said, I love the show and I DO NOT think there is anything wrong with watching it or collecting the toys as an adult.

I'm 31 years old and I have a wife and two small daughters. Sometimes I'll be sitting there watching TF Animated and I'll think to myself "Why am I watching a kids cartoon?" (even though I'm enjoying it.) or I'll think "I wonder if my wife or 5 year old think I'm a weirdo for watching a kids cartoon." (which I'll have to have a conversation with them about because I ain't gonna stop watching it.) At that point, I'll start to feel weird about it.

Anyone else ever have the same type of moments?

I watch it with my 7 year old son all the time. I thought about it one time then I remembered he made me watch all those Barney, Wiggles, and Elmo shows with him when he was a 3yrs, so cartoons aren't as bad as those torture shows.

Not at all. Alot of adults like cartoons. If you start watching the Hannah Montana then you should feel weird and justifyably so.

That's like asking some Hollywood star if they feel weird being an idiot every day of the week. So, no, I've never felt weird watching TF.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter how old you, or what gender you are-there's nothing wrong at all with watching TFA, or any TF series for that matter.:thumb

As long as it doesn't control your life.

Nope. Now if you're feeling aroused while watching a children's cartoon show, you might wanna get your head checked out... unless of course you have a porn on your picture-in-picture, then you should only feel slightly strange you chose to watch porn and a children's cartoon show at the same time

I am weird regardless if I watch kids cartoons or not, so it's ok for me. I don't have to feel ashamed watching a cartoon I enjoy. It might be bad if you were enjoying one of those Nick junior cartoons or the ones on PBS.

I feel wierd sometimes. Like with that bit in the Animated episode with Swindle, that 'Powell is a boogerhead' bit makes me realise Im actually watching a kids show.

There were quite a few moments like that in Cybertron too if I remember right.

There hasn't been a time in my life where I stopped watching shows that have kids as their target audience.

I like a lot of them better then I like a lot of "adult" shows.
Although I have favorites in both.

Not weird to me. Considering the news lately on World Affairs I'd rather be watching cartoons instead.

The way I look at it. The shows are made by adults, voiced by adults and shown on networks run by adults. There is nothing wrong with watching them and appreciating the work put into them by other adults, no matter the target audience.

It's like the toys themselves, the amount of time and effort and sheer ingenuity that is put into them by hard-working adults totally justifies appreciating them in my eyes. Besides, TF Animated is just, plain, fun.

I'm 33 and I have friends who are 34 and 28 and we all love TF Animated.

If they didn't feel that adults would watch Animated, they wouldn't be throwing in all the references to past Transformers shows that only adult/knowledgeble fans would get, would they?

I'm only 22 years old, and I've been watching TFs ever since I could remember. I never felt weird about watching a kids show, let alone one that's geared towards boys. And I'd care less if anyone thinks I'm weird that I, a female, watch Transformers, which is a "little boys' show," according to those who aren't TF fans like all of us on these here boards.

Hmm, maybe if I have a boyfriend who isn't into TFs, I'd be a little more worried how he views my TF fandom... hopefully I'll have a BF who's as gagga over TFs as me... hopefully.

I don't feel weird about it at all. Would I broadcast it to others? Probably not.

My little girl watches it, and it is strangely entertaining.

Hey, to each his own, I say. I don't feel weird watching it, and I don't think other people who watch it are weird. I'll sit and watch all kinds of kid cartoons and such 'cause I find them entertaining. Just 'cause I'm a 20 year old girl instead of an 8 year old boy doesn't mean I can't enjoy it too, yanno?

My friends give me crap about it every so often, but it's all in jest. I think they're more amused by it than anything else. I skip to the toy aisle, they shake their heads, and it's all good.

I can understand feeling a LITTLE weird about it, but as long as you like doing it, then who cares? :)

Stereotyping is probably the bluntest way of putting it. Average John Q. Public will always assume that cartoons are for children, and nothing more. However, animation has had a long history of appealing to people of all ages, where even alot of the time the storylines and subject matter were far from child appropriate. It is true that a vast majority of cartoons are made for younger audiences, but they're not the only ones.

Animation, like alot of other media, is an artform. It is an artists (animators) way of conveying a message or a story through illustrations. The same can also be said of musicians and their music. Animation in my opinion is one of the few things capable of helping to bond the generations without necessarily alienating the viewer based upon age. If you go see a kids movie, the adult may feel silly. If were to go see a more mature flick, the child will likely become bored, unruly, or just fall asleep for lack of interest.

As far as examples of cartoons for older audiences, hop on over to youtube and look up things such as "the banned 11", or the many countless World War II Propaganda cartoons featuring such familars as Bugs, Daffy, Mickey, Donald, and more. There are even more recent examples such as Family Guy, or The Venture Brothers.

So in answer to your question, no, you should not feel weird. If anything, watch cartoons regularly with your kids. Use it as just one more you can do together while they're young. It may not seem like much, but they will remember it when they're older, and it will mean alot to them. I remember when my Dad used to do that with me, I have many happy memories of that that I will always hold dear. I really miss him.

Nothing wrong with a good cartoon
    on a saturday morning.
    Or on a week night.
Or in the middle of the night.
If you like them, watch them.
Most of them are made with
    adult viewers in mind.

cartoons nowadays seem to be geared more toward adults if you think about some of the jokes. some jokes kids will never get.
