That's too bad. Those Zunes seem like a steal at that price. I just bought one. If I don't like it, I will probably just give it to a family member for Christmas.

That sounds like a problem with the actual files, not the player. I've had mp3 files do that to me on different mp3 players before, but they would play fine on the computer.

I solved it by downloading new versions of whatever was not playing correctly.

That's exactly what happens!! OMG thank god someone knows what I'm going through. The files will play fine on the computer but not on my iPod. Is there a way to let iTunes allow me re-dowload that album and see if it works? That's better than lugging the thing all the way down to the crapple store.

Depending on how things go with my iPod (i.e. whether or not it can be fixed) and burning the mp3s (for some reason my computer won't let me burn certain albums (granted the ones I tried were either downloads of "questionable legality" or radio promotional copies of cds, seeing as I used to be a DJ) I might just get a Zune. I wouldn't mind having a hard copy of my iTunes stuff and it would be cheaper.

Listen to them, you will! [IMG]

But I personally don't trust Apple at all.

You were allowed to listen to music on patrol?

EDIT : if you meant just carrying it around, disregard the above.

There is another way to restore your IPOD.

    1. place your IPOD on flat surface.
    2. find your best 4 pound sledge hammer.
    3. beat the ever living crap out of the IPOD.
    4. shake your fist at the heavens and curse apples name for making the IPOD to have such a poor battery life, over-priced, dies after warranty, piece of crap!
    5. go out and buy another one.

If I were you, I'd try converting the offending files to regular mp3s with one of the methods I linked to before. Converting them MIGHT iron out whatever little glitch is in the song file.

It's worth a shot, and you won't have to re-download stuff.

Yes, replace it with a creative zen.

Had my zen xtra 40gb for a few years working strong, never had a problem.

Had my zen vision m now for a year, only ever had to hit the reset button on the bottom once.

Never had my mp3's randomly deleted, or all stop working at once, or not let me add more, or have to use that horrid itunes(installing itunes on any of my computers is punishable by an asswhoopin')

Last night I managed to fix one of the albums but the other is still broken. I'm going to try and burn it and re-rip it, but as for getting a new iPod, I figure I'll wait until the thing blows up on me. Thanks for all your advice ^^

Have you guys seen that new Creative Zen? that thing is sweet. It only goes up to 16GB but its flash memory and it has an expandable memory slot and has features ipods should.... like FM radio. Plus it supports AAC files. Eat that Apple...

I tried this when I had problems with my Ipod. But no one at the store was smart. It'd be hit or miss on this one. BTW, my problem was a broken hard drive which I replaced with a new one. Now it works better than ever!

Did you check your setting in Itunes to "allow album artwork"?

    NEW PROBLEM!!!

I think my Headphone Jack port is fried...for some reason I only get sound in the left speaker no matter what I plug into it, new headphones, car jack, old head phones, the onyl way I can get it on both is if I put pressure downward or to either side.

My question is, is this something easily (and cheaply) fixed by any local Apple Store or should I just wait and get a brand spanking new one? And before anyone asks I got this thing quite some time ago so I can damn near guarentee that the warantee has run out. Also, I would contact the Apple Store personally but all they can tell me over the phone is "bring it in for a diagnostics" and the closest store is like an hour away. I'd rather check here before I spend the gas on the trip.

One of the first line of iPod Videos, bought it right when apple started pulling the mid gig ipods (12-20gigs) and issued the new nanos (the ones before the small box ones)

Yeah, sounds like you're out of warranty and it's starting to show its age. It happens. Invest in a new iPod.

One of the contacts is loose in the jack. Easy to fix, but you'll have to open it and probably do some soldering.
