So I've noticed that for the most part the RTS figures have opened hands. The Generations look like they have closed fists. In addition to the rub signs is this another difference?

Nope. Generations Wheeljack for example has open hands.

No. Thunderwing and Kup have open hands, and they're Generations. Darkmount and Skullgrin, too, depending on how you count them.

As do Generations Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Kup, Thunderwing, Darkmount and Skullgrin.

Also, RTS has a number of reissues (Bumblebee, Rodimus, and Cyclonus) which all have closed fists and a redeco (Fallback) with closed fists.
