..does it seem like The Live-Action movies, Animated, and War for Cybertron are the only TF-related things the creators of TF: Prime have seen? This is a good or bad thing depending on who you are. I'm ok with it, but I just want Soundwave to have a voice and personality.

He does have a personality. He's a kind of smart-ass, scheming Megatron loyalist.

Why? It's called character evolution. That's why Soundwave is a lot more 'spy' like than G1. That's why Arcee is a far more ferocious warrior than her stereotype in G1. It's why Bumblebee is a hell of a lot stronger than the wimpy human lover he was in G1.

    Precisely.

Soundwave here is a much more interesting character than most of his previous incarnations, I would say.

Way more creepy and mysterious this time ["must bear witness" line was awesome].

It's just you. There have been plenty of references/nods/influences from other TF continuities. As for Soundwave, it was explained a while ago that he actually does have a voice, it's just that he's been at his job of recording and relaying data for so long that he's chosen to use those recordings rather than his own voice. Wouldn't surprise me if he, and Bumblebee for that matter, eventually get their own voice actors. Season 2 will, after all, be exploring Bumblebee's voice issues.

But, if the Live-action Movies, Animated and War for Cybertron were the only things the creators of Prime have seen, then you'd think Soundwave WOULD have a voice, as he speaks in all three of those examples you mentioned.

Actually there's a clip of them going thru the "Transformers--Ultimate Guide" on the TF1 dvd as well.. that's where they got the idea to "kill off" Prime for ROTF...not one of their best ideas, imho. :(

dude 10 episodes in, we will get all of our continuity nods. It seems like the movie cuz they wrote the first two, it seems like WFC cause its "in the same continuity" and it seems like animated cause its small teams with character development. your really grasping at straws to try and nitpick about nothing. I'm going to sit in my chair and laugh when Soundwave talks (which either may be late S1 or S2) remember always beware the quite ones

It might seem that way because the series has been going rather strong on the idea that everyone has to be the most baddest bad ass in the history of bad ass.

But as things slow down into character development we've been seeing nods from other places so the mix of past nods have been good even if some series get more nods than the others some episodes.

Plus I think we are seeing nods from place other than Transformers so perhaps Soundwave is a nod to the Predator films with how he repeats things in a creepy way like the Predator alien did. Just got to see if we get an episode with Soundwave repeating lines like "over here".

are you listing non-Transformers: The movie, animated, war for cybertron references? Cause there's lots more than that.

Frank Walker as Megatron happened only as a reference to G1.
"Let us light our darkest hour" reference to 1980's movie
"One shall stand, one shall fall", was IN the movies, but is still a G1 reference.
    Wheeljack, G1 reference.
Unicron, did not appear in either Transformers: The movie, animated or war for cybertron, so can be taken as a reference to ANYTHING else.
    Optimus Prime's trailer
The Spark, although briefly mentioned in animated and Transformers: The Movie, is still an overall nod to Beast Wars.

So the question isn't so much, have the writer's only seen those three things. The question is, have YOU seen more than just those?

Ok, yeah it was just me. Just wondering. I didn't notice those nods. Thanks for the help.

Btw, I have seen these. Wheeljack was refrinced, yes. But he was a scientist type in G1, were he was seemed as a combat specialist in here. Which, isn't a bad thing, but doesn't really fit his character.

    Incorrect.

For one, "doesn't fit his character" is outright impossible, since his character in Prime is a seperate one than G1. They're not the same Wheeljack, and don't need to be.

And second, his dual sword weilding "badass" persona is derived from Armada Wheeljack.

I understand the first argument, how he's different. Sorry about that.

However, I said he was the scientist type in G1, not every continuity.
But it still counts as a refrence, so yeah. I'm wrong. It's not the writer's fault's, I just didn't notice all the refrences. thank you for the help.
