Is similar fo the solar harvester.

    Exhibit B :

The Maritx from ROTF and from the g1 movie.

    Exhibit C :

    The Space Bridge:

Exhibit D : The Nemesis from G1 and ROTF
    [IMG]

    Exhibit E :
    Decepticlones from ROTF
    [IMG]

And the decepticlones fron the episode "war dawn"

    Exhibit F :

    The Fallen himself:

    Exhibit G :

    The Original 13

And the point of this it that ROTF should not be bashed for not being so G1 related.

Sure they took some existing elements and adapted them to the movies.

Doesn't make the films G1 tho.

I think most people's beef lies in HOW some of the classic G1 references were used. The biggest example? The Matrix of Leadership. Not that the the Matrix needed to be used in ROTF in the exact same way it was in the G1 continuity, but c'mon! What does a KEY THAT TURNS ON A SUN DESTROYING MACHINE have to do with leadership?? In at least that case alone, it's clear that the writers just slapped a classic G1 item name on something very arbitrary, to hopefully get some fan-wank... which they did.

Well both G1 and Revenge of the Fallen had bad plots so they both have that going for them.

But slapping a name on something doesn't make it the same. Take the film The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vs the comic book. Yea they shared names and other items yet they are so very very different. Just because they shared a name the film and comic book Mina Harker were very very different.

So the names don't mean they are same. Both Revenge of the Fallen and G1 had Decepticons yet in one the military can only run away from the Decepticons while in the other the military is hunting down the Decepticons. A really big difference even if the faction the name stays the same.

To be fair in the original script it was explained the Matrix was created by the Allspark so the Primes could use it to replenish the Cube with the energon harvested from suns, so it was a token of leadership.

Uh... the "spacebridge" in G1 is radically different from the one in ROTF. In G1, it allows easy access to and from Cybertron, while in ROTF it was a cheap plot device to explain how everybody got to the middle east so fast.

And The Fallen was a product of the DW War Within comics, which were produced YEARS after G1 was done with. I'll admit, I was VERY surprised when I learned that The Fallen was actually one of the main bad guys of the (then) new film since he was somewhat obscure.

the thing that ruins the micheal bay live action TF movies for me. is all the silly humor that seems to dominate the movie. like the twins, wheelie, the apppliace bots, sam's parents, sam. other silly sam's friends. some sector 7 guys & so forth.

RotF really did take a lot of things from Transformers' lore, yes. It's one of the things that had me excited about it before the movie came out. Your mileage may vary on how well it was used, though.

Nice examples! In the long run I'm glad that G1 elements were at least used in a manner that was controversial rather than just ignored completely.

That's not why ROTF is bashed.

I mean, sure, there is a niche of people who bash it for not being GEEWUN enough, but you don't really need to explain why they're wrong. It's like arguing with people who say that the government is limiting our psychic potential as aliens from Jupiter or something.

I think if there are any references, they are so loosely based they lose there meaning. Also for one spacebridge in ROTF only seems to be a plot device to move folks to a new local so i call shenanigans. Also then there is the fact the fallen while placed there by simon furman is not really a G1 character at all. Actually the whole concept of the original thirteen is a horrible attempt to give the Transformers a spiritual culture, as if they needed it.

Everything about the movie verse is mostly a referenc by name only. I dont see how that is a fan service in the least bit.

I would even go as far as to say ROTF had worse story writing and continuity issues than any g1 story. G1 had a huge assortment of episodes and multiple writers and the movie verse had only 1 movie to contend with and no restrictions continuity and they still broke continuity, lol

Of course it's G1 related, everything Transformers is G1 related.

Because (stay with me now) everything that came after is based on the ideas created in G1. Imagine that.

ROTF was very g1 related in that new autobots and decepticons appear out of nowhere. and the war they are having is about resources. the bots are tryin to coexist with humans.. and thats about it. methinks. yeah its a stretch but hey. maybe tf3 will make rotf make sense.
