Is it me or does Megatron sounds scarier?

I was watching the 1986 movie and now comparing with Prime, I think Megatron´s voice sounds more scarier now than in his prime (G1). Do you guys think alike?

Personally, I think he needs a throat lozenge.

I know he's a trained professional and all... but it sounds like it must hurt. I hope Welker isn't damaging himself.

But aside from that... yeah, he has more intimidation in his voice.

Well in the interviews for TF: Prime Frank Welker did say that he lowered the voice so he could make it creepier and get more range with the voice.

I think it's the Viral Like Teeth that make Megatron outright terrifying.

Welkers Megatron voice was always like that, though.

I think what a lot fo people don't realise is the old G1 vocie was also mixed with audio synthesizing. Not as much as Welker's Soundwave voice, but still, G1 Meg was not just Welker's skills alone.
There's also the fact that Welker has aged sicne then. So of course the vocie is going to have to sound a little different.

It is. While close I find it much more menacing and pleasing to the ears than the G1 voice.

This Megatron in general is scary, not just his voice. His teeth, his eyes, his sheer physical presence, his eyes (yes, I am being redundant - to me, the eyes are that freaky).

The voice is much scarier and gives off more of an impression than the raspier voice Megatron had in G1. Actually, I think Welker has been influenced by Hugo Weaving a little bit, but you still sense the classic Megatron in there.

I think Welker's voice for Prime megatron makes him sound more "on edge", like he's a few seconds away from ripping our your throat.

i so cant waint for them to do a shot of him with his eyes glowing like hell fire in the darkness like that scene from g1 season 1 heavy metal war

YouTube - Transformers episode 16 - Heavy metal war part 1

from 754 to 811 is the scene i am talking about
or that scene from beast wars season 2 episode 1 aftermath where it shows transmetal megatron in the dark after the transwarp wave has hit the planet and all you can see is his blood red optics glwoing malevolently in the darkness with his head and face in shadows

This is my impression as well. I thoroughly enjoy what Welker is doing with the character's voice. This coupled with the writing has made for a very enjoyable super-villian. I hope the trend continues.

That was my reaction at first too, but, I do like what Welker did with it. By just toning it down a little bit, he made Megatron sound like someone you don't want to mess with.
