The similarities are uncanny!
Johnny 5 was first.
Wheelie is a rip-off of Wall-E, who in turn is a rip-off of Johnny 5.
You're several weeks late. And yes, the toy does look similar in the head. Wether he'll look so similar in the movie has yet to be seen. He looks to be a similar type of robot that Frenzy was, so the blocky "binoculars" eyes may just be a lackluster interpretation of the eye-stalks design Frenzy had.
Give it up already
Johnny-5 was based on E.T. But WALL-E was not based on Johnny-5, he is a trash compactor with binoculars for eyes: it was a coincidence. Great minds (Spielberg and Pixar) think alike. Personally I do feel Bay just wanted to parody WALL-E though.
Rob was 1st, by 1 year!
Wheelie has LEGS.
Well which ever one of these robots they based it on; this thing looks like crap in a hat.
Nope. I'm pretty sure it's just you who thinks that.
Oh really? Please, this a blatant rip off. However, I like the design, loved both short circuit and wall-e so it's all good.
hmmmmm so you think they look like Wheelie? is that what you are say'n?
Of course they aren't going to be alike other than the look.
Wall-e comes from Pixar which is known for character.
Wheelie comes from Micheal Bay who never puts character into his films.
well the similarities are meant to illicit nostalgia for short circuit fans and/or carry over the "feeling" for wall-E....
watch out for wheelie being nominated for the oscars
I don't see any similarities at all.
The real question is does it really fucking matter?
GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE, DUDE. AND YES YOU ARE SEVERAL EONS TOO LATE ON THIS TOPIC OF DISCUSSION. SHEESH
