Is it just me or does this McDonalds ad say Salmonella?

    50 seconds in.

YouTube - McDonald's Ad "Victory" (Mutantes - Minha Menina)

They say the music is by Os Mutantes. A Minha Menina. I don't understand Portuguese, so someone will have to tell me what it actually means.

In any case, it's a poor choice when something that sounds like "salmonella" is that noticeable in a fastfood ad.

SOUNDS like it, but pretty sure it isn't. Using what Spanish I know (yeah, not the same language, but close in many aspects) I honestly doubt that's what they're saying, I don't think I would've noticed it unless if you'd pointed it out. The song IS in another language so one wouldn't expect them to pronounce any English words without some sort of accent.

    EDIT-
    Yep, definitely just more Portuguese-

Wow, it does sound like they are singing "salmonella." Of course, they obviously aren't singing that word.

Regardless, I can just imagine the controversy this commercial is gonna spark. :rolleyes2

Its in Portuguese, there's no reason for any of the words to sound English. Its like if somebody was singing a Chinese song and randomly interjected TOM CRUISE mid verse.

Hahahaha. But that does happen. Sadly Asian pop songs are chock full of random English words.

The thing is that this ad is for US consumption. And we don't know what the song is. We don't know how Portuguese sounds. Frankly McDonald's been using lots of songs that are just incomprehensible. So if something sounds like salmonella, it just sounds like salmonella! Not that it sounds like salmonella. It's just an unfortunate sampling by the ad company. Maybe someone doesn't like Micky D's over there. :)
