Is it confirmed for DOTM toys to have a premium-ish like release later?

I know I have read a post here, a post there about it, but I can't seem to find any concrete evidence, so I would like to ask (since this allows me to plan for getting the bots now or wait if its the same price-ish + better paint apps),

Is there going to be a "premium version" of these figures confirmed? As in, like the first movie. The answers would be greatly appreciated especially if posts and links could be provided.

I can't say for sure no, but ROTF didn't. The only reason the Premium line existed was because Hasbro was caught unaware by the huge success of the movie, and it was worth putting those characters out again with slight alterations.

I would certainly hope, at least, Sideswipe gets redecoed in silver later on to recoup costs.

Yup. The premium versions will be sold in Japan by Takara, as usual. ;)

Is there a source? When you mean "MP treatment", you mean a Takara release? or a hasbro later release type of thing?

Check out movie MP Starscream for a great example. Just a ton of paint apps that are not on the hasbro release. I think they have even more paint apps than standard takara releases but i could be wrong on the.

The first premium line was a Hasbro thing, dude, and was sold over here.

And teh difference between preimiums and Movie Masterpiece lines? Premiums cost the same as regular releases.

Takara only. Literally head-to-toe in paint apps to look ridiculously accurate. Well, except for BB. But Starscream deffinately.

That's also whay they cost nearly twice as much.

Nope, regular Takara versions of first movie figures featured additional paint apps.

Also, Premiums were about 30% more expensive than regular versions at retail.

Conflicting info on takara and improved paint on ironhide and sp.
Maybe overseas. In the us retailers tie hasbro to specific procepoints.

Hm, the price is confusing for me, because yes, I am aware that Takara's MPMs and regular releases are more expensive than Hasbro, but Hasbro's premium TFTM figures were at the same cost as original with much better paint apps.

So I guess the main question is, whether Hasbro would be releasing a premium version.

I honestly doubt it since hasbro did not do premiums for ROTF. But i am not hasbro so i could be wrong.

But they weren't sold as Premiums. What I'm saying is that the actual, Premium line concept was over here. Takara only brought over three of the Premium figures, of which one was exclusive and the other was not the same deco.

Not from what I see. All sold for regular price.

You are right about the US price, I checked the retail prices from back then and they were the same. Perhaps their increased price over here coincided with a regular price hike, and wasn't tied to the fact that they were "premiums."

Probably. I remember there were complaints of prices going up around those times. I myself fell victim to it on occassion.

Given that we now have three movies worth of molds and retools to draw from, and this is purportedly the last film, I can see Hasbro churning out every possible repaint they can muster to get the most out of the molds before their glorious window closes.

That's not to say we won't get Movie toys in the future. I can totally see updates in the CHUG line years down the road.

Will there be a Premium line? Probably not. Will there be better/different paint schemes from the original release of the molds? Probably.

    These statements are both untrue.

Japanese Movie 1 toys were mostly identical to Hasbro releases, barring the occasional difference like Deluxe Classic Camaro Bumblebee's clear blue windows instead of yellow plastic with tampographed blue windows, color changes like Incinerator or the weirdest of them all, Landmine with a slightly different hue for the plastic and rubber tires. Oh, and Optimus Prime Battle Mode, the Japanese version of Premium Prime (in fact, one of the few Premium toys to be released in Japan) had definitely more paint ops and chromed parts.

But most regular movie toys were identical between Hasbro and Takara.
