I was out grocery shopping today, and after I picked up everything I needed, I decided to check the toy dept. To my dismay, all they had were pegs of TFP Bumblebee. It seems to me that Hasbro has, once again, guaranteed that retailers will be less likely to order later waves, based on not being able to move product. Are they trying to kill their own franchise? If not, do collectors of Hasbro's other lines (G.I. Joe, My Little Pony) have a similar problem with one character clogging the shelves?

Do a basic board search and you'll find the bazillion other topics stating the exact same thing that cropped up over the last month or so, and therein, you'll probably also find the answers as to why this is happening, and also why it's probably not cause for alarm.

    [edit]

That second photo there is more for the lulz then anything. Someone purposefully pulled all the Bumblebees to the front. In the few cases where you can tell what figures are behind those Bumblebees, you can see a Wheeljack and a FE Arcee.

Hasbro Rep: "That's not Bumblebee. That's his pal, Yellowjacket."

Holy crap! The only saving grace in that pic is the FE Bumblebee.

That's funny, because when I first met my wife, she kept referring to Bumblebee as Yellowjacket.

    To quote another board member:
That's why when I saw Soundwave, I jumped on him because I know I can get a Bumblebee whenever I want.
That's also why when I saw Ratchet and Arcee I jumped on them, because I know I can get a Bumblebee whenever I want.

I think it differs from area to area, in my local toy shop the Prime section is full of Cliffjumpers and Optimus Primes rather than Bumblebees, the Bumblebees actually sell fairly well.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if one would secretly mark the packages and monitor them. Then you'd know if the stores keep selling truckloads of BB's and quickly re-stocking them between visits of forum members.

I picked up Soundwave the only time I saw him.

I read about this idea on another board. Does anyone know if it's been tried yet?

I would like to see concrete proof that those Bumblebees aren't selling.

Because Bumblebee being at the front of the peg means that every figure behind it must also be Bumblebee, right?

Those pictures are crap. Staged. Made to look like there are more Bumblebees than there actually are.

I'm not sure what your position is... but I personally laughed.
However, others WOULD cite that their existence is proof that kids want BB and that is why they are there.

But still, there is no reason for that many BB's to be on the pegs at any time, given the other characters in the line ATM.

The realistic truth is neither side has any proof of selling or not selling. Both sides will present arguments, both sides will then bash the other side, and then the thread will be locked only to be revived again in a week's time.

I think we need a thread for photos from the BB section of stores.

how to take a picture of a toy not selling? hmmmm....

clearly the only answer is time-lapse photography.
