it sounds like lunacy I know but think about, in 2008, disney bought out marvel, marvel produced the original transformers comics and we also have marvel transformers crossovers and let us not forget the disney label transformers of mickey, donald and buzz and their repaints. chances are I'm wrong but it's something I've been thinking about for a while and it seems plausable (to me anyway) now they might be trying to buy out the right to the transformers or they might be trying to buy hasbro and takara

    Yeah I think so too.

Hasbro might be willing to license their product out so that kids can gat a Mickey-former... but Hasbro aint gonna sell the property itself.

I like disney movie most of them but I really hope that does not happen. Epic battle with music is great. Transformers cast breaking out into a happy sappy song GOD NO!

Profits seem very similar so very doubtful where as Marvel was not making much money (even with the movies their yearly profits were in the millions unlike disney and hasbro which is in the billions).

    Mattel is far more likely.

When Disney buys companies, they don't Disney-fy it. Look at Miramax, it used to be Disney-owned; fuck, they even made "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back" when they did own it. Where was the sappy singing?

No, they begin by telling everyone "hey it's ok, we'll let you keep doing what your doing" then later get heavy handed and make crap. Look at miramax after they got more demanding with the Weinsteins. Thank God Lionsgate stepped in to do what miramax used to do.

Not to mention they said no to "Dogma".

While there is not straight up disneyfying that term has changed as well. Make 12 year old girls look like 20 year old sluts and it's considered disneyfying now.

I don't see Hasbro needing Disney's cash anytime soon.

    i dont know.

i think it might be interesting if disney were to co produce with hasbro a transformers series that takes the whole dark deco approach ala warner brothers batman the animated series like what they did back in the day with gargoyles

now that show rocked the house big time

Transformers is one of Hasbro's big staple items, one of the core pillars of the company that they've staked and won billions off of.

The bottom line is simple, they're not going to sell off the golden goose.

I doubt Hasbro would go that far, considering that Transformers is one of, if not, their biggest franchise.

Iron Man 2 and Kick-Ass, if you don't think at least one of them is 'cool', then you're a hard man to please, and probably stubborn to a serious fault.

I could see Disney having closer ties with Takara in the future (there's already Disney Label TFs, after all), and producing cross-property products through them, but given the relationship with Mattel and Disney for merchandising on this side of the pacific, I don't think Hasbro will be interested in working with them.
