If the Transformers have an alt. mode to hide among humans, why is Cosmos a UFO? Something that has to hide anyways.

Pretenders were even sillier. They looked like humans from the times of the gladitorial games and were the same size as Transformers!

Cosmos is not a robot in disguise, he is a conquistador in space.

He'd blend in just fine here in NM. We see UFOs all the time. :D

It's to keep all the other aliens out there from figuring out what's really going on down on Earth.

It's a perfect disguise, as he's based in Roswell, New Mexico.

edit: Tyrant beat me to the joke. :lol

I like how Masterforce handled it, just adding a dash of Megatron's size change tech.

Not all the G1 TF alt modes made it possible to hide from Humans, The Dinobots and Predacons come to mind.

And it's funny how they're all in disguise yet they all will transform into robots without hesitation in front of anybody :)  good example, when Cliffjumper and (I forgot what other autobot) show up in robot modes to a crowd of people to the unveiling of a statue built in honor of Optimus and even get interviewed. Cliffjumper gets mad because the interviewer calls him "Cliffjump"
Plus... The people built a statue of Prime! How if they're in disguise?!

I never took it as "in disguise" from humans. Since they could transform on Cybertron too, I just thought it always meant they can diguise their robot modes and no one (other robots) would know who they are.

This is why I prefer "more than meets the eye" to "robots in disguise". It incorporates more functions of an army than spying and stealth.

Remember, his accent is actually a very poor Peter Lorre, not Spanish, really.

Lorre's background is actually pretty European-cosmopolitan: he was from the Kingdom of Hungary, part of Austria-Hungary, but the part where he was born is now Slovakia.

As for Cosmos, is there any evidence he was on the Ark? For all we know, he never crashed (ironic) with the rest and thus, never took an Earth mode.

However you butter it the fact is they are all still in disguise as something they are not.

Sometimes it's about function not disguise like with beast TF's.

And maybe it's a Cybertronian alt mode.
