Is classic/henkei losing value since the release of generations?

I don't own any henkeis, but since release of red alert and thrust in generations, its seems the value is dropping....is it?

Absolutely. If it's released in Generations, collectors aren't forced to pay secondary market prices.

The value of Henkei Thrust has PLUMMETED. Sadly, I wish I could say the same for Red Alert as I'm still after him and even if I do find him (he's still mega rare) then his price is pretty much what it's always been.

I think Red Alert was produced in lower numbers then Thrust somehow honestly. He is like the ghost mold of henkei.

Thrust/Dirge are pretty much not worth what they used to be. However, i'd just hold onto them for awhile and i'm sure the prices will rebound eventually.

Red Alert went down in value but i'm not sure why... The Hasbro version doesn't even come close:2c:

^ No the Henkei Red Alert is superior to Generations Red.

There's a lot of differences, but to a lot of the collecting fandom, they simply don't matter. There's a lot of people who simply want Red Alert, and aren't at all worried that the two toys aren't identical as long as one is easily available, even if they do like the Henkei one more.

You insulted my preferred version! I CHOOSE YOU! 3PM on the playground after school! :D

I managed to score MISB Henkei Red Alert for 15+ S/H from a seller in Japan a month few weeks ago. How's that for a price drop.

Every mold loses some value when a new version comes out, but most rebound eventually... especially once the new stuff (in this case Thrust, Dirge and Red Alert) is sold out everywhere, prices will go back up...

but either way, i could care less... I buy my toys cuz they're fun, not so i can make a massive profit off them...

No, they're two completely different things. Henkei is supposed to look like cartoon Red Alert, while Generations is supposed to look like the original toy. They are both equally relevant.

But the deco on the Henkei looks more like the original toy. The only way Generations is more like the original is the black head.

Indeed, however I prefer the Henkei version because I already have Sideswipe and Sunstreaker for that mold who both have black heads and I want my Red Alert to stand out a bit more (yes I know he's white rather than red or yellow but the head adds to the overall distinctiveness of the figure). If you have 3 of the same mold - and actually I have Botcon Brakedown and Punch/Counterpunch too - so it's good to have anything that will set a repaint apart from the 'originals'.

I just took another look at both of them, and honestly, Generations is overall more accurate. Besides the head, the biggest difference between them is the arms and legs.

The cartoon had gray/silver arms and legs.
The toy had silver arms and red legs.
Henkei has white arms and white and black legs.
Generations has gray arms and gray and red legs.

Basically, Generations combines aspects of both the cartoon and the toy. I'm guessing they went with the toy head, so it would be different than the Henkei. Personally, I would have preferred the cartoon head, but it's not that big of a deal.

Hey it depends on the guy your talking to. If he's wanting to buy Henkei only hes having a better time finding them for a cheao buck but if your a seller....well tough luck selling them for a good price.

Prices will probably go back up sometime after the next movie comes out.

Que?  Red Alert in the cartoon series had white arms and upper legs.

Here's Red Alert from the G1 cartoon:

Yeah, the generations isn't really accurate to the cartoon or toy

The Henkei version did a good job of copying the original text

I'm not sure where the Generations Red Alert got its text from, looks like something from RID

Either one works, just depends on how picky (or cheap:D ) the collector is. For me,only the Henkei Red Alert will do:2c:
