It's hinted, when Primal speaks to Cheetor after his death it suggests that this is true. However, it's never really confirmed on the show.

I think there was some convention fiction that had the maximal elders taking over once everyone was brought back from being disembodied sparks, but in the confines of the show, cheetor was primal's 2nd in command and should have been his successor after his death.

I think leadership of the Maximals went back to whoever was in charge before Megatron took over. Primal was never leader of all the Maximals, he was only in command of the Axalon and its crew. While Cheetor did grow and mature and gained a lot of command experience, he was only leading a small group, a far cry from leading an entire planet.

Cheetor replaced Primal as leader as much as Primal was leader before.

    Who knows other than that...?

If Transtech had been done, the original Optimus Prime would have returned to lead the Autobots/Maximals/whatever they were going to do.

I would of thought Cheetor might of been given a special rank and place in the Maximal goverment.

Lord Protector Cheetor? Has a nice ring to it. I agree, the implication was he'd become some kind of leader somewhere in the grand scheme of things.

I took it that Cheetor was leader of the small group of Maximals that Primal had led, but ultimately there was a leader higher up somewhere since Primal didn't lead ALL the Maximals.

I can't remember why Beast Machines was so short, rushed, and cliffhanger.

Probably a budget thing, or maybe that it moved to Fox Kids rather than syndication.

BM didn't do so well sales wise (the great toys didn't come out until AFTER the show was done, battle for the spark..) and they scrapped Transtech in favor of returning to something more traditional with Armada. (they brought over RID merely to bide time as filler while Armada was being developed) As much as so many people hate Armada, it saved Transformers as a brand.

I assumed Cheetor got some special rank, then being the only Transformer capable of communing with the Oracle after Primal's reformatting.

Yep. The thing that bothers me though, is that in BW, Rattrap and Silverbolt outranked Cheetor. Cheetor got the Hot Rod complex in BM (which isn't bad, but worth noting).

I would think that he went on to become a sub commander among the Maximal ranks.

I never had a problem with that. Primal was preoccupied with his religious-like experience, Rattrap was having trouble learning to transform then depressed about his robot mode, Blackarachnia was too independent to lead, Nightscream was too young, and Silverbolt didn't show up until later in the show. Cheetor was the only one left to take command. So it's not so much a Hot Rod complex as it is necessity.

I'd like to think he's the leader now. :)

Didn't the Oracle pick him after the Great Reformatting, kinda like the Matrix picking Hot Rod to become Rodimus Prime? That's how I took it, that he's a Prime now.

He never turned grey so it's only YOUR INTERPRETATION that he became leader. Oh, wait, got confused there for a second. I would assume that some sort of Maximal government would have been established again but I don't think there's any "official" fiction covering what happens post BM?

At the end of Beast Machines Cheetor recieved a vison of Primal from the Oracle.

Wether it implies that he's leader is not clear.
