I'm sure young and old here know of him for his famous voice on '80s TF - and of course he was the voice of America's Top 40 radio for quite awhile.

His acting as the brash warrior Cliffjumper was always spot-on. Just wondering if he ever got over his little tiff with the G1 production staff. Maybe his deep-seated anger keeps him ticking, he's 79.

It wouldn't surprise me if the whole thing left a bad taste in his mouth for the franchise, but I wouldn't think he'd hold a grudge with too much venom after all these years. At the same time, I don't think he'd have any reason to come back to Transformers, he doesn't need the work, he probably has plenty of other offers, and there's probably a bunch of other stuff he'd rather do again first.

Sorry, I'm slightly noob-ish when it comes to G1, but what was he mad about?

He's of middle eastern descent, so when the show made a middle eastern based episode where the plot point was about some fuel like substance called "car-bombia", he got uppity and quit the show. More or less.

Pretty sure he got over it and isn't still stewing all these years later - especially given how much more politically incorrect TV has become since the earl 80's.

Ah, fair enough. All I remember is how hilarious the name was and surprised that they got away with using it.

It's been about 25 years. Nobody holds a grudge over a childrens tv show that long... except for law enforcement, they hate Megatron and his toys.

He might, I doubt he'd remember TBH. Though if someone made somewhat stereotypical jokes about your origin I'd be miffed as well. It's not like the producers had no choice either. He asked them to change, but they disagreed, even when he threatened to leave.

It's a totally different staff now anyway, so it's not like he'd hate the Prime staff for what the G1 guys did.

But he's retired, and wasn't really an iconic TF VA like Cullen or Welker are, so I doubt they'd ever find reason to bring him back.

I don't think he does Scooby Doo anymore either.

Well he's not Shaggy anymore but he's voicing his dad in Mystery Incorporated ironically enough done by Derrick J. Wyatt.

I'm glad the producers stood their ground.
It was a stupid reason to leave.

He didn't have a problem that the show featured an Arab character (Abdul Fakkadi) as a bad guy. He was unhappy because that character was the only Arab character on the show at that time, and the producers weren't interested in having a "good guy" Arab character as a counterbalance. When the producers reacted as if that was the most outlandish idea they had ever heard, he quit. Not in disgust, apparently, just as a matter of principle.

I'm glad Kasem stood his ground.
It was a show of his integrity that he left.

Negative racial stereotyping is a show of insulting ignorance. I almost daily run into people who are too stupid and unintentionally insulting for me to want to be around as well. Although it's more difficult to do at the time, it's better to defend yourself against being wronged than to just accept it, as most people do.

It's probably not like he needed the work, there was plenty of other projects he had at the time and I'm sure he was a hot commodity in the voice acting industry around then. He, frankly, didn't need to put up with that bullshit.

What bullshit? A good job and career? Plenty of bucks speaking into a mic? Please.

He didn't need to take something so petty so personal.

If its so petty, why should he have had to deal with it at all?

And he had all those things you mentioned before, since, and during while working on other projects, PLUS the added bonus of not having his ethnicity mocked in the projects he worked on!

Kasem has been politically active and proud of his heritage for a very, very long time, so why WOULD he stick around on a project he felt wasn't in line with his personal principles?

Fakkadi wasn't a racial stereotype, he was a cultural one. The 80's were famous for the now dead Gaddafi's terrorism via Libya. After the Soviet Union and Revolutionary Iran, Libya was the bad guy back then. It was a tv show for selling toys to kids, and the writers added a funny parody of a dictator like Gaddafi, and Kasem got butthurt over nothing.

And for the record, no Arab good guys? What about Hassan AKA Prince Jumal from Aerial Assault? Give me a break.

Carbombya.... Yeah that was bad. I can see why he left. Sucks too because I loved his Cliffjumper.
