If one goes by the impressions and the hints that has gone out ever since the video games started, War for and now Fall of Cybertron, its been suggested that these games are now the "official cannon" of Transformers now.

If that's the case does this now mean that it now the Combaticons gestault warrior Bruticus now the first combiner robot instead of Devastor (at least he was the first one we the audience and the humans in the show saw.)

    Depends on the continuity.

There is no one "official canon" for all continuities.

He's apparently the first combiner in the WFC/FOC version of the aligned continuity. It has no impact at all on G1, BW, RID, AEC, The movies, Animated, and may not even have any impact on the Prime version of the same continuity, much like how in most versions of the G1 continuity, Devastator was the first combiner, but in IDW's G1, Monstructor was first. We'll have to see how Prime handles combiners when, and if, they show up in the series.

True. I guess I should have typed that too, but wasn't there a word out that Hasbro was saying that Cybertron games would be the "official cannon" now? considering some of feel that Hasbro is gonna gradually phase out G-1 wait, I'd better save that for another thread.......................

Nope, Nexus Prime was the first combiner in the Aligned continuity.

Ignoring IDW (because I don't read it) I assumed the Combaticons were the first combiner group anyway, because I was under the impression they were put in prison years before the Great War started.

Also, I always thought it was spelt Gestalt, not Gestault?

Well, he's not the first gestalt. Nexus is one guy who divides himself into five pieces; the other combiners are five individuals who meld into one. That's the difference.

Being as though he combines in order to form himself, he would still be a "combiner", being the first he would be the "first combiner". Nexus was also able to combine any number of bots into one, or one bot into any number of smaller components, the number does NOT have to be strictly five (see: Devastators; yes, with an 's' in the Aligned novel continuity).

There's also a difference between canon and cannon, and "Scorpinok", "Devistater", "Menasaur" and "Lazerbeak*" aren't correct spellings of Transformers' names either, but that doesn't stop people from using them. ;)

*There was a "Lazorbeak" in Beast Wars, but people keep using the "-ze-" combination for the G1 character.

Your taking Hasbro's comment the wrong way.

Aligned is the new/current official continuity. It's the continuity they are using going forward for the foreseeable future.

But they aren't in any way "erasing" or canceling out past official continuities. Thats not how it works. Heck, thanks to the incredible IDW books (Every TF fan should be reading them. Sooo good.) G1 family stories are still being published in greater number and frequency than Alligned stuff.

-ZacWilliam, look at it this way: everything Hasbro has ever released is and allways will be official canon. It's just that they're attempting to focus all their new material in a certain direction for right now.

Devastator came first. He was built by Megatron and they built Megatron in return and later Megatron convinced them to join the Decepticons and they betrayed Omega Supreme.

....yeah let's go with Bruticus. Not so complex.

You know, thinking about Aligned continuity as a continuity family like the many different G1 incarnations makes it almost tolerable as a concept. Question though, since HMS based their series so heavily on G1 concepts and aesthetics, will that mean a nice retcon in the future?

That's very clearly how Hasbro intends it as they have explained many times. It's no less tolerable than any other continuity family ever.

As for the HMS games, can't see why it would. Hasbro has always been very clear on their place in Aligned and plans To apparently stick to Aligned for the foreseeable future.

-ZacWilliam, just likes putting an H in the word Aligned for some reason. Shrug. ;)

I'm not disputing his status as a combiner, I'm disputing his status as a gestalt. My point is that his combined mode is his base form.

What bugs me the most about "Lazerbeak" is that "laser" is an actual acronym. Oh, yeah, now it's "Light Amplification by Ztimulated Emission of Radiation!"

    Makes sense.
