I'm not a big fan of the TF movie films. I like the bot designs, but little else. Bay is a good director depending on the material he works with; I like The Rock, Both Bad Boys movies and Armageddon. However, Bay might never have been able to both please us hardcore fans and do his job of "filling more seats than a prison rapist". Most of us hardcore Transfans grew up with the franchise. The writers for the comics are writing for a maturing audience that expects more from the stories than when we were younger; The new IDW stuff has what amounts to political intrigue on Cybertron. If Bay were a music producer he would be churning out pop hits for Lady Gaga. Thing is, with the exposure that Bay brought though, more doors have opened up and the possibility for future remakes and spin-offs greatly increases. There are other directors that could better handle this material, but maybe we should thank Bay for getting us there.

The Rock is not a dumb popcorn flick with laughable characterization and juvenile humour. It is a great action movie that also possesses compelling characters, engaging suspense and drama, as well as a good script. To a lesser extent, Armageddon is, too. If Bay and company handled TFs the same way these were, I think that myself and most fans would've been fairly content at the minimum.

Bay works well with a human cast, but I don't think he can swing directing characters that have to be rendered in 3D. It maybe a reason he tends to put the bots in the background. Like I sad, I actually like some of his earlier "The Rock".

I actually somewhat think the opposite...the way they portray almost all the humans in the movieverse is campy and way too over the top. But I think they could have done well with the robots if they just freaking featured them more.

If you go by the people in TF, yeah. His other blockbusters treated the people a little better though.

I don't think Bay is so much the devil as the average person who still goes out and buys movie tickets. We aren't demanding better from movies and people like Micheal Bay are more than happy to exploit the low low standards of people buying movie tickets.

But please don't expect me to ever thank the guy for anything. I've been a Decepticon fan since back in the elementary school days when it was a jog from the bus stop to make sure I didn't miss cartoons. Going to be a long time to convince people the Decepticons aren't as weak and pathetic as the movies make them out to be.

Ha ha, plus I don't think he's out to get us because that would mean he would actually have to think about us once in a while.

He's not a "devil" by any means. Just a mediocre action movie director. People are too harsh on the poor guy lately.

Can't we just make a big "I hate Bay" megathread for those who want to whine about it every day?

    ....THIS

I don't think Bay is the devil, just not right for the job he was tasked.

Believe me, you can say a lot of harsh things about Bay, but calling him poor is not one of them. Every time he ruins another movie he laughs himself all the way to the bank.
