I don't think the BC content for the 360 is all that big a deal. If this was the PS3 which stated it would be near 100% compatible then yes the later PS3's would be something to be mad about if you sold your PS2 thinking you didn't need it. The only thing about the 360 that bothers me is the added HDMI port on newer models, well it would if I had a HDTV. Good point. That would be nice.
Access to the video store does not require paying for an xbox live subscription, so he's correct. Why they don't offer it in Canada.. who knows.
If MS had offered 100% compatibility, OR if some of the games they're offering for download aren't compatible from the original discs, I might be angry. As it is, I'm more irritated by the PS3. We were promised near 100% support via hardware-based emulation, then we find out it's significantly less, if still a majority, via software emulation instead. Now, by the time I finally ever actually want a PS3, there won't be much if any backward support at all. I think MS is doing okay compared to that, since their support has actually gotten better over time, not worse.
Werd. By the time I get around to buying a PS3 (in a year or two), I won't want it anymore thanks to Sony ripping out all the BC. My PS2 won't last forever, and I STILL have PS2 games to play.
I've played Ninja Gaiden, Halo, Halo 2, Star Wars: KOTOR, Jade Empire, Farenheit and a bunch of my old Xbox games on my 360, upsampled, all from the original Xbox discs. The fact that they offer them on download seems to be to be a bonus more than anything else... I mean, I can't see why there would be any complaints, if you have the original disc, you should be able to play it. But really I think Microsoft should be putting more classic games up, its the only thing on the Wii that makes me super envious, the virtual console.
Because nobody seems to want to click on the link I posted earlier today. Yes, now even if you live in the untamed tundra that is Canada you can download and watch Krush Groove. We truly live in a time of Renaissance!
Yeah, it's too early in the morning. Still happy with my 60gig PS3 playing old games (and it plays 100% of my PS2 games and like 90% of my PS1 games). And if I didn't care for playing PS2 games then the 399 model would suffice. I don't think they will every get rid of the option, for a 100 bucks more (less than a PS2 Slim), to have that option on an 80gig PS3. As for MS. I'm happy with their list of BC. I don't want to play Azurik anyway, if that's even on the list. They made sure that the games that people want to play are on that list.
I got lucky and got the Euro Software Emu PS3 which, an update or two ago, seemed to fill any holes in my library, yay me!
it took them long enough though, i was waiting patiently for evil dead regeneration while people were playing barbie rides horses.
I seriously wonder how many people took advantage of the BC on Barbie? Maybe like 10 in the entire country.
Just think,it could be worse.Think how i felt when i found out Steel Battailon wasn't BC.The xbox crapped out about a week ago. So,now i have a 200$ game that is worthless now.
But you borrowed my copy and I haven't seen it in months. Steel Battalion won't be BC due to the controller not having a interface on the 360 Envious?
Luckily I have a PC, and there should be a decent emulator or two before long, if there isn't one already. I remember they had one in a semi-working state and playing several games more than a year ago.
