I have to say I'm not as impressed with this figure as thought I would since they removed the mincon gimick which was one of things that made the figure an armada figure to begin with. But I have always liked the look of this figure and since I wasn't collecting back then I'm glad I was able to get some sort of version of him.

The plastic isn't bad, it's just thin. And anyway, if he still had the axlezooka, it would just eat his sholders again. If you want a gimmicky Hotshot, get an original, if you want posability, get this one. It is as easy as that.

But the gimmick is majorly why the toy sucked in the first place: the axlezooka forced the upper body to have poor articulation to acomidate it. While true that Hot Shot as we know him today was introduced Armada, Universe is not Armada, and frankly the fact they didn't shoehorn a limiting gimmick in order to give him the articulation the design drastically needed is a godsend to this design, especialy since the designers were able to work in Jolt again.

The bot mode is crap, the shoulders are annoying, but I'm not disappointed. The only reason I got him was the JaAm license plate, so he stays in car mode.

If the shoulders would just lock into place he would be fine. Everytime you move the arms the shoulders fold in!!! Crappy design flaw

    I want to like him.

all his problems could have been fixed by adding TWO LITTLE PINS to his shoulder hinges and keeping the cutaway part the henkei version has for the launchers in the bumper. that cutaway part keeps the two pieces of car-kibble from fighting for the same physical space.

and jolt would be fine if the little bastard had some heels.

The tabs on mines waist that hold the legs together in robot mode don't fit together properly, so you have to get it just right and not breath on it or the legs pop apart. Other than that I like it.

I'm not disappointed with him, although I can definitely see why some people would be. The only problems I have with him are the back kibble (which I am starting to be able to work around) and the fact that his fistholes are just smaller than the standard, making him unable to hold the Star Saber (I may attempt to dremel his hands later).

Now if we were talking about Jolt, that would be a totally different story:lol

I was pretty dissapointed when I opened it up and noticed the thin/cheap plastic, the shoulder issue, and the fact that this literally feels like a KO to me.

I still like it, but it's not nearly as good as I anticipated it to be from the original photos we saw. I know the photos are usually prototypes painted up much better, but this could have been done at least a little better. I own the original and while I hate the limited articulation on that one and love the articulation on this new version, the original just feels better due to the plastic used. In comparison with some of the other Universe 2.0 toys, I'd have to say this one is near the bottom in terms of quality.

It still looks great, it just feels cheap. This might get a new paintjob, just haven't decided yet.

Actually, I made a small modification that I'll be posting into the Minor Mods of Radicons soon on a possible fix I did to mine for that, as well as an alternate for the back kibble and the Minicon.

I was thinking they could have giving him pop out flame throwers as nod to animated hot shot this would have also allowed them to have a min-con gimmick as well.
