Anyone own this guy? Is he worth getting for 50+ from Japan? What are the chances Hasbro will ever issue him as a standard voyager in the US?

I say yes, go for it if you like animated. He is one of the better voyager toys, and there is a 0% chance IMO that anymore animated will be released here....hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

if your an animated fan yes he is worth getting. other wise your mileage may vary. will Hasbro release it? Highly doubtful, id give a snow ball a better chance in hell than Animated Blackout getting a US release at this point.

It has the Lugnut Syndrome. But if you like animated, then yes.

I own all the US releases of Animated, I'm a bit of a completist to a degree. I don't typically buy the import versions unless they are a) Starscream b) Drastically different from US release and a favorite or c) Will never be available here

Well, its a unique mold. Its not really "to scale" (he is huge in the cartoon). He's got a fun gimmick (I love the launching disc, its got SO MUCH power behind it)

I believe some members sell it here for 45$ MISB. So you can try B/S/T?

Blackout is very good. It seems like the retailers will not want much that is not DOTM related for quite a while (besides Masterpiece Rodimus). Toys R Us was the last store to regularly stock Animated figures, and carry Animated exclusives. TRU (at least the local stores) have finally put the remaining Animated figures on clearance, suggesting that they might not be interested in carrying any new Animated exclusives.

If you want Blackout, now is the time to get him. Worst case scenario (for those who import him): he comes out in America for $20-$25 and you paid $50 for him. I rarely import figures (due to pricing) and I imported Blackout. The other figure that I imported was the Cybertron Voyager Starscream. That figure was never released in America (with that deco... it was repainted at least twice though).

If you have the money, get him.

One reason why I like him quite a bit is BECAUSE he is similarly out of scale as Lugnut, and therefore if you want to play around with some smaller deluxes (sentinal prime, etc.) and activators bb you can actually have a sorta in-scale crew set up.

I bought him at Botcon for 50 bucks....not a bad figure and personally I think it is definitely worth the price.

    He's still available somewhere for $50? That's original retail-ish.

When asked at Botcon last year the chances of getting more Animated Hasbro's answer was:
    1) US retailers consider the line dead.
    2) We got TRU to carry a couple of exclusives but they prefer deluxes.
    3) If you want the figures there are other avenues of getting them *cough* Takara *cough* Japan *cough* *cough*

    I bought 2.
(not intentionally, but i wound up with 2.)

i keep one MISB and glad i do. he looks great in that box.
The other on the shelf is a joy to behold next to Atomic Lugnut.

i am not the biggest TFA fan, but i adore Blackout. he's better than Rodimus, Arcee, and most others.
get him while you can for a reasonable price.

I got to see and transform him a few weeks back. TOTALLY worth it. Slightly out of my range for now, but totally worth it. He's a fun fun fun brick with no head turning, but he's just a perfect example of why Animated should have been continued.

    If you're a completionist yes.

As an individual toy, it's like Lugnut with less personality.

Had it got a wide release, it would be rotting on shelves, imo.

Possibly the weakest voyager mold in the line.

If you love animated already have all the other TFA dlx+ figures, yes. That was the boat I was in. Normally I'm a total cheapskate, but I haven't regretted one penny of the $50 I paid to get the takara version through ebay.

Blackout has some flaws, but he's got a great presence to him that just doesn't come through in photos. Plus it was totally worth it to have one last new-toy fling with my favorite toy line!
