I never had a megatron in my collection and I only have deep space starscream, and while I was comparing them in robot mode last night (SS being bigger) I wondered if this scale fits?? I mean and F-22 IS bigger than a Mack truck right???

Yes. Use this as a reference. I know Prime isn't a Mack Truck, but it's pretty much the same size. DOTM Voyager Megs might even be pretty close to the same scale as ROTF Voyager SS.

Keep in mind, though, that Starscream's robot mode was designed to be quite a bit shorter than it would appear from the F-22 (ex: he's nearly as wide as he is tall). So if Megatron's a big Mack Truck with a trailer, they should be around the same size.

And because of this, leader starscream in alt mode is the only Starscream in scale with voyager pirme and megatron (alt mode wise, robot mode wise Voyager starscream is to scale..well with Prime he is...LEader 1 megatron is to scale with voyager starscream) Seeing as how larg the F-22 is compared to a semi.

it's pretty interesting most people don't realize how big the jets are because most of the models/toys we get are way scaled down for cost/playability due to their real life size and wingspans

Doesn't stop them from complaining about toy scale differences though.

Megatron's got to have some weird mass shifting going on or he'd be massive compared to prime in robot mode, assuming the trailer is part of the robot in the movie too. Starscream seems to fold up a lot too.

I remember reading the F-22's were about 80 feet long. That's pretty massive

Am not complaining though (Just in case that was aimed at me), I was just thinking/wondering. I am happy with the size, It was just an idea.

And YES jets are REALLY BIG. Ive seen them up close (but not a Megatron truck :(  )

No, it wasn't aimed at you. You even made this thread to ask for the correct length.

Well see, this is our problem.

Instead of simply looking for Starscream's correct length, we should be looking for Starscream's "Adjusted Length".

In the movie universe, an F-22 could be smaller than it's real life counterpart. That's sort of how I look at it...or that Transformers and scale never mix.

This is the one truth of transformers that the fandom will never get used to ^^

Seeing how they are transformers, they could be a few measurements off right?

One of the things I've noticed is that Starscream actually gets SMALLER when he transforms, while pretty much everyone else gets bigger. You can see it in TFTM when the F-22s are flying over the city. He transforms and attacks one of them, and he clearly gets slightly smaller, while everyone else (Prime, Megatron, etc.) gets MUCH larger when they transform, due to their unfolding.

So while they scale may not be perfect, it's completely within my acceptable range.

Yeah, that's why he's designed like that massive hulking monster that he is, rather than something sleek and lithe like most of his other counterparts.

They wanted him to be roughly comparable in size compared to Optimus Prime, not to dwarf him 3 times over. So they came up with that transformation where most of the wing mass compacts and sandwiches and folds over on itself, compressing his overall visual size. Whereas most everybody else, as you mention, expands outwards quite a bit.

    Ebay:
It would be cool if the decepticons were to scale, and therefore so much larger than the autobots, making them more menacing.

    ...like in Animated.
