So I am TOTALLY attempting Black Apple's mod as he posted here... 01-31【黑苹果出品】“谁动了我的小内内?”---mp27铁皮小改!_变形金刚玩具吧_百度贴吧 - Super credit there, this guy is awesome. And the man to thank for many of the OS/KO 'improved' models we enjoy...

Though with my own spin on it-

    removed some material here

built this apparatus, which is pretty cool actually ;)

blue tape is simply holding part, it will tab in or be glued in upon completion.

a number of options are possible. This may actually work nice, I can dig a tab slot into his back to make this really secure.

Looks cool, I'm not brave enough to chew up an MP though.

Check out this video, it shows how to swap the shoulder parts so that the ratchet teeth don't show in bot mode.

Wow! I looked at the link to the mod and combined with the shorter crotch part mod it fixes all that I disliked about that figure. I so wish I could just buy one of those like that. I have Voodoo Salus as my MP Ratchet and I love it, but I don't want to give them anymore money. Voodoo announced in August last year that their Ironhide would be out the next month. Retailers posted it as coming out that September, but every month the release got pushed back a month. After 5 months or so with no updated or replies from Voodoo about it I cancelled my preorder for that. Going on 7 months of the release date getting pushed back by Voodoo with not a word of why or when it will come out.
I love Ironhide so I really want one in my MP collection. TFC Ironwill is just too far from looking like G1 Ironhide for me.
I'll keep an eye on how this goes for you. Maybe if it comes out good and can be done so it is very stable and sturdy, not fragile or scary to transform, I may get a KO Ironhide and do the same.

Thanks, this was on my list, but will do later as it's fairly simple.

I got the other side's wheel apparatus done. Also have done about 75% of the work on the crotch mod. Will try to post pics later.

Updates to come this evening. Getting closer to completion. Most mods done, some painting, and couple minor additions.

Ok, so here we are. After the physical construction and mods were performed, it was time to paint:

repainted all silver bits to freshen them up. Tamiya Flat aluminum acrylic. Oooohh sparkly!

    FullSizeRender_5.jpg

They used to be one piece...
    FullSizeRender_6.jpg

Since I modded the back to accept the wheel tabs I figured I'd paint over all the areas I scraped up. Admittedly the slots I made look pretty sloppy. I was lazy here and don't care that much as they will be occupied or out of view most all the time. I do like my choice to two-tone the back with silver as well.

While I was painting anyway, the legs were screaming for a little flair. I masked off and painted these bits in, trying to match the color on the shoulders.

That's a pretty damn close match! Used some flat aluminum for base, then concocted a mix of flat grey, black, flat alu mixed in for the metallic look seen on the original.

Here's what the wheel apparatus/extension arms thingies I made look like in a few positions...

    Ironhide stands once again...

Better pics to come when's he's all done. A few touches remaining.
