PREVIEWS: The Comic Shop's Catalog! - Transformers: Ironhide #2
For some reason I think it's brilliant the way Drag Strip is being portrayed in this.
And Outback gets to do something!
They APPEAR to have retconned Megatron: Origin out of continuity, as Ironhide was a member of the Autobot security services during Megatron's 4-issue rise from being a working class miner to pit fighter champion to warlord. This might explain why the Megs Origin recap in Andy Schmidt's Continuum book was so vague and brief (seemed like an intentional choice than another of the several mistakes in the book).
Though given Megs Origin was originally intended to be a Dreamwave storyline and was mostly pencilled by Alex Milne, it's entirely possible Ironhide's appearances in Megs Origin were just more of the random cameos Dreamwave had a penchant for.
I really like the artwork in this series. Who was it that tried to kill Dragstrip? Afterburner?
It appears that this Ironhide is, in fact, a past "version" of him with no memory of Cybertron's destruction due to the war. Should be very interesting to see how this all plays out.
I think it was outback
Looks promising. Is Ironhide's boss meant to be anyone in particular?
With the way things are going here it makes me believe that this Ironhide isn't the real Ironhide, but like a back-up or something. When the Ironhide we know died in the Ongoing, this Ironhide was put online with early war memories of the original, which could explain the red beeping light.
I mean it is a crackpot theory but so far that's what it's looking like.
I really like the way that this story is panning out. It feels a lot like "I Am Legend." (The movie, not the book, I mean).
I was thinking that too. Wasn't there an Cybertron Basic Toy with that rough paint scheme, and similar body design?
hes the owner of the racetrack, he appeared in spotlight: blurr, cant recall his name at the minute though!
He looks like the Movie toy Scout Armorhide, the Target Exclusive, IMO
Outback Wednesday can't come soon enough.
He seemed confused as to what had happened to Cybertron, which gives credence to the backup theory.
I wish Ironhide was my bodyguard. ^^ Thanks for the links! REally appreciate it. Love the art on this one.
So there is another Ironhide on modern Cybertron fighting the swarm? I'm confused, and how could Ironhide not know who Megatron is and outback of all people does??
that's because casey collar rocks!!
Whats to say that he's not in this one? I don't get your point
This flash back can even be before Megatron: Origin.
Oh, snap conspiracy! This one looks to be a good series, I would like to see more pre-war Cybertron stories!
Geez, why would Outback of all people would be an assassin? Not only not his style (he's the lone survivor guy and I can imagine he was probably the last person to sign up for the Autobots when no other option was left), but this whole thing is very much not the Autobot's style. Killing a celebrity in public, even if he's suspected of dealing with the enemy, that kind gives the bad kind of message to the people, IMHO.
The whole story is very confusing, anyway. Ironhide died in the future, back in the past he was hit with a gun by Axer, and then he wakes up in a completely new body on Cybertron. HUH? Can't be time travel, as that wouldn't have changed his body. PLus, he'd have to go back eventually otherwise he'd cause a paradox as he simply would have dissappeared from the timestream.
The only thing I can imagine is happening is that back then, Ironhide almost died and someone saved his conciousness and built him a spare body... which is now re-activated when the "original him" died. Still doesn't explain how this copy can have a spark, though.
