How tall are the iron Factory combiners?

 

That sounds good. More I can't say I have any strong feelings about Onslaught. My favorite version might be the CHUG APC.

 

I'd love to be proven wrong.

 

Judging from the scale of Swindle and Brawl next to Pink Assassin I'd guess probably about 7" at the head, give or take.

 

This is the first so we don't know. Kinda hard to gauge his height from their display setup.

 

I was guessing 7" too, which unfortunately will be a tad tall to look quite right with the Mastermade Citybots.

I think Omega, for example, should be like 3 or 4 heads taller than Bruticus but since MM Omega is about 7-8" tall.... I dunno, maybe I'm splitting hairs here.

MasterMade Omega supreme doesn't even scale with MM Metroplex nor MM Trypticon. Why care about scale with legends scale combiners.

Seriously though, I'd love Scramble City style.  

 

Very nice; pulling off individuality but still working for combining is a feat. Poseidon's guys are impressive, you can't ignore something's a little same-y about them. That said, I REALLY hope this is going to be a set. I am so done with combiners as individual releases (larger scales feel a little tired too, but that's different argument). I didn't get it until Ashura knights showed me how it could be. Sure some might not be as dazzling, but as a big set one's weird design choices are easier to forgive because you aren't putting up with it for months until the payoff, it's right there.

 

Now I really want a UW/CW Abominus so that I can mash him up with UW Ruination. Ruinous and Abomination!

 

The repaint potential for this set could break the bank for a lot of folks.

 

I think this is the first time they have tackled earth based alt modes since UM and Wingblade. Swindle's Humvee mode and Brawl's tank mode look good; it looks like there is going to be a lot of detail. Maybe they hired someone new to help with the sculpting?

I'm in the heathen camp; I'm ok sacrificing the scramble city aspect for decent individual bots and nice combined form in this scale. The amount of articulation they gave these tiny guys and still allowing them to combine? It seems pretty brilliant at the this stage.

I admire the engineering DX9 had to do to eliminate almost all of the parts forming aspect and still have individual bots resemble their G1/Sunbow alt mode & bot appearances, but they had to sacrifice articulation and some aesthetics on individual bot modes of guys like Bonecrusher and Mixmaster.

I don't think I can properly judge if one choice was better than the other until I have them both in hand, but it appears both companies are taking very different approaches on how to do a combiner at Legends scale.
