Im thinking of gettn a Video Ipod, but I noticed they arent compatabl with OS Windows Me. I was wondering if there is a program for WinME that would allow me to use a Ipod? yeah I know... WinMe sucks, (sometimes nerds take my lunch money and beat me up cause I have this OS) and I just dont feel like upgrading to XP
As far as I know, anything below Windows XP will not work with iPod, iTunes, etc. My aunt had ME on her Dell (bought it in 2000) and her daughter got an iPod for Christmas one year, and it absolutely refused to work with it. They called Apple, etc, and it was confirmed it's XP or Mac OS only. They finally did upgrade to XP and everything works fine. I had ME for the longest time, and I understand what you mean by liking it. It's faster than 98SE, feels advanced on many of it's features, but seriously, consider XP. I didn't want to, but finally upgraded to Windows XP Professional w/ Service Pack 2. One of the best decisions I've ever made. So stable, System Restore works without a hitch (only once did it screw up...I had a virus and didn't know it.) etc. $90.00 well spent for an upgrade to Home Edition. ($150.00 I believe for Professional Edition.)
Please tell me you aren't using an E-machine to go along with that horrible software? If you're still using, or hell using it at all, then you don't deserve an Ipod video.
^ LOL... I doubt he's like me on that one. I'm actually using the eMachine I bought back in 2000 (which came with ME preloaded and had restore disks). It's the only computer I have and it's been a workhorse. The Gateway powered eMachines are junk. Although if he gets a Video iPod, I'm sure it could break the eMachine. lol
You must not own an E-Machine. Mine is fast, stable, upgradable, has PCI express, and 64bit compatible. All they are, are the AMD series for Gateway anymore. Oh yea, upgrade that ME!!
My sister-in-law's computer (Dell, not eMachines) runs Windows ME. She doesn't have an internet connection and was having problems getting her computer to acknowledge the mp3 player she hooked up to it. I thought it might be that she needed to upgrade her software (having no experience with ME or mp3 players), so I told her to bring over her computer and I'd hook it up to my internet connection to update her software. Well, I got most of her software updated, and was wandering around Microsofts download site to make sure, and I discovered that as of June 30,2006, Microsoft will NO LONGER be providing updates (or other support? I don't remember if it said that or not) for 98, 98SE, 2000, or ME. I told her to get off her ass, spend the money and upgrade to XP. We'll see if she listens. BTW, according to her update history, she hadn't updated her computer since 2001...
Junk can be defined as something that breaks easily and spare part cost out the ass, or Dell, Compaq, and HP. E-Machines use really good basic hardware, namely the motherboards and CPUs. They also use a basic build design, ie..if you PS fails then go to a local computer shop and get a new one, you can't do that with a Dell as they use propriatary parts. My E-Machine runs great, it was slow at first but after adding a PCIexp Nvidia card and another gig of ram and oh yea. It plays Doom 3 flawlessly. But for those who insist on propriatary sytems that aren't worth the parts they are built with, to each thier own. BTW...Anyone got a Voodoo for sale
Well i don't know about all this hardware crap but the newest iPod rumor is that a full-screen version (where the screen covers up the ENTIRE iPod) will be coming out in April, so you might want to wait and see if that pans out.
well I have a HP Pavlilon 1.3 ghz, but yeah I'll have to upgrade to XP eventually. thx for the help guys
Yeah. You're talking MAJOR rumor. The only thing even known about it at this point is the patent was applied for with some rough design sketches. Anything else you've seen on the internets is fake/photoshop mockups. The date is total speculation.
Getoninja...can you give me the model number of your computer? Like "HP Pavillion 2500" or whatever it may say. Should be on the front of the case. I might be able to get an idea of how far that mobo can go processor wise. Might be able to upgrade it for around $50.00 and have it like 2.0 Gig. You can buy older processors and heatsinks for a rather cheap price nowadays.
cool, xt967. Got my HP back in Aug of 2001, if I waited a few more months I would of had a XP, but back then I didnt know much about PCs
