Inverting...?

    I noticed a while ago that lots of repaints recently have just been the original, with an inverted colourscheme?

    e.g. Nigthwatch prime, Stealth lockdown.

    Why is this? Discuss.

    It's been going on since Transformers Energon. Look at Armada Tidal Wave, invert his colors, then look at Energon Tidal Wave.

    I think it is just a case of making the toy visually distinctive from the original - you don't get much more distinct than the opposite end of the visual spectrum.

    yeah in Energon it was a given that with the decepticons if you inverted the colours you would get its repaint Tidal Wave and Mirage were prime examples of this.

    As for why well I guess with a negitive image theirs little chance that they look alike

    Plus is really simple to do and not think up of many different ideas (other than homages)
