RIP: Steve Kordek, PInball Innovator, at 100 - TDW Geeks

I normally don't post things of this nature. but we have a large gaming fan base here. and I'm sure more than a few of you, like me, are huge pinball fans. So it's sad to see the man responsible for the modern take on pinball has passed away.

Loved pinball just couldn't be the wizard at it. Hmm I hope THE WHO doesn't get mad at me for saying a title of 1 of their songs.

A shame, but he leaves behind an amazing legacy of amusements to remember him by. I've had a ton of fun thanks to Steve Kordek, and I salute him.

Indeed. But sadly, Pinball itself may not be too far behind him. All I see nowadays is those machines where the table inside is just one big screen with everything laid out digitally. A glorified videogame pretty much. And that shit ain't Pinball, IMO.

A genius and pioneer. He also achieved an age that many don't live to see.

Not to disparage the dead but Gottlieb Beat him by a year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humpty_Dumpty_(pinball). I worked on one of these for an old Boss that had a RARE Pinball Collection, and indeed Gottlieb's Humpty Dumpty is the first Pinball produced with flippers.

He did however take Gottlieb's idea and create the standard that lives on today of 2 at the bottom.
