Interview with Lorenzo di Bonaventura about 'Deepwater Horizon' and 'Shooter', but they asked two questions about Transformers.

Gotta agree that a sequel should go with quality.

Wonder what changed Paramount's mind about Transformers.

That's a good question. Though they must be damn glad they changed their mind when they did.

I'm going to disagree about quality. Looking at the big films Hollywood has been putting out it's really hard to call them quality films with a straight face. They are marketed well and they keep finding some pop culture vein to mine, but it's been so much play it safe, paint by numbers, and don't color outside the lines because an insane budget means you have to be bland and generic enough to please all and offend none.

Perhaps part of the problem this summer was people got fed up with the quality of the big films and decided to stay home and watch something on TV. At least with TV it feels like people are attempting to pick up their game to gain viewers instead of doing the same old thing over and over with the hopes that people will never get tired of it.

I guess we have to wait until next summer to see if this summer was an anomaly or a trend. If it is a trend I don't know if Hollywood is ready to step up their game.

It's not about quality, it's about sticking to the formula. That's how Marvel makes crowd pleasers. They have a formula that works and they stick to it. Paramount would be smart to follow
